Trying to save some cash for my brother, would a 250r shock be usable on a 86 350x? Also, are the fron forks the same on the 200x, 250r, and 350x?

Thanks

Lets start with the forks, 83/84 250R forks are the same diameter (35MM)as the 85/86 350X forks (35MM)so they will bolt up however the 250R has a trailing axel vs. the 350X leading axel so if you did bolt the 250R forks on you will have a shorter wheelbase (not a good idea on a 350X) UNLESS you use the lower 350X fork sliders on the 250R upper tubes (yes they will switch) the added bonus of this switch is the 250R has more travel then the 350X. as for the rest 200X use 33mm forks and the 85/86 250R uses 39mm forks if you wanted to use them (can't see why you'd use the 200X) you can if you switch the triple clamps and you would also have to press out the 250R steering stem and press in the 350X steering stem.

as for the shocks, although you possible could fabricate the aftermentioned shock to fit they would not be properly valved for the 350X. the 250R has a rising rate linkage system whereass the 350X has a direct mount therfore it would not work very well not to mention it would take some major work just to get it to "fit"

Hey MR ATC, did the 250X/300EX shock fit that? Those are direct. I don't really know that's why I'm asking.

Well I still don't know about them bolting up but they are 3/4" shorter than the 350X.

O.S. no they have completly differant lower shock mounts then the 350X
