I'm sorry to get off subject but a 350X DOES NOT rev over 11,000RPM!!!!!

They peak(RPM) before 9000RPM. Closer to 8700-8800.

HP is peaked at 7000RPM.

Torque is peaked at 6000RPM.

EXCUUUUUUSE ME O.S. are you saying i'm wrong about this? or that my tachometer is wrong? or that my service manuals are wrong? the 350X is the ONLY Honda ATV without a rev limiter mapped into the CDI box (but you already knew this right) that is why one of the first hop ups for the 250X/300EX golf carts was to use a 350X CDI box and that"s the reason aftermarket provides higher reving CDI boxes for your golf cart (400ex) this is also why so many 350X's burn up there cam journals too many owners overreving them. i will give you some credit you are correct about your peak HP and torque #'s. with all these anti 350X post O.S. i think i smell some 350X envy...lol

1)Well yes I am saying your wrong, atleast untill I see some proof. How about scanning in a spec page or something? I did know they didn't map the limiter into them, but when you have a motor that peaks around 6-7000RPM it simply won't have anything left to get it as high as 11,000RPM.

2)The reason the 350X's have problems burning up cam journals is because those pre-historic motors don't run bearings in them like the fine newer quads do.

3)If you raise the RPM limit on a 400EX you don't know when to shift in the first place.

4)Envy, not in this life time. lol ;)

I split these posts off the original one since they aren't related. First time I'd ever done one. I guess it worked :P

Mr. Atc is right 11k Rpm on a 350, sure. I wouldnt ever run one over 9000, as the power is pretty much peaked there. The 350x's notorious head problems are due in part to people revving the living piss out of them. On my 85 200x (highly modified, by the way) I could run 10k most of the day. Well, running that Rpm in the little modded mill resulted in the rod creating some extra ventilation in the cases, among about 300 other problems. All this was racing against another guy on a 350x. The fact is, 4 strokes (ESPECIALLY HONDA XR350R MOTORS) are NOT made to rev to stratopheric ranges. There is little reason to get anything over 9k..This is no 250r. The new breed of 4 strokes (crf450, yzf450, etc) can run these ranges too, but you will also see these motors down much more as they are running in the same leauge as 2 strokes. High Rpm in low tech mill=pain and death and hole in wallet.

Your way off Johnny, they peak at 7000. How would you know how high your 200X reved? Just wondering.

I had an electronic tach on it at one point. I am aware that 350 motors peak in the 7000 area, i wasnt too clear on that though. I meant to say around what it peaks (7k or so), and i was just being very general in the statement and neglected to say the actual peak. My mistake.

Hey, O.S. you still yapping about this...lol how dose your superior golf cart mind know it dose not? i never said it peaks at 11,500 i said it would rev that high. you say it won't go over 9000rpm yet my Hondaline Tachometer designed for the 350X goes to 10,000 and it goes to that at less then full throttle when the throttle is pegged it goes past the 10,000. did you have a tachometer on your 350X?...

I personally do not know what the 350X redlines at, but I wouldn't think it would be anywhere 1000. Even if it did it would be pointless because it would be powerless, and hard as hell on your motor. They just aren't made for the high rpm's, reason being, they have no cam bearings, nor do they have a wrist pin bearing, also you have to worry about the possibility of floating a valve or something.

Dose this convince you that a 350x revs higher then 8600rpm O.S.

I'd have to yes! I still don't belive you. You say it only goes to 10,000 right? Who makes a tach that won't cover their own machine?

Now, Now, Fight (type) nicely everyone. lol. I think you could rev anything up to 10,000rpm, but you will either blow it up or have some major problems down the road.

i also have a tachometer on my X

my tachometer only goes up to 8,000 rpm ( the one that goes to 10,000rpm was 100$ more)

but i know for a fact it will revv that high, i had the tachometer wrapped around back to 1,000 rpm

and for saying that dont have much power after 9,000 rpm, im not too sure about that,
well at least mine still has some balls to it after 9k,

ive had the tachometer wrapped around back to 1k in 6th gear racing numerous times ( by the time the race is over anyways or i slow down if i didnt pass my opponent by then)

O.S...."Who makes a tach that won't cover their own machine?"....the same company that rivits stupid warning labels on there ATV's fenders warning you not to attempt dangerous stunts like wheelies or jumping...lol..its called cover your trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. if some people new how high there machines could rev they would do it all day then sue the manufacture when it blows up.(still working on pic)

1) I may be wrong.

2)You still haven't proved the 11,000RPM+ thing yet.

I have to agree with mr. atc yet again. The honda 250r's and the newer 400ex have made a huge impact on the racing scene. Worked 400ex's and 250r's are what is winning races still. The Banshee and Raptor (and a few other competitive bikes out there) are all good machines in their own respects, but they don't have the versatility of the Honda machines.
