1988 moto 4 input

my brother bought a moto 4 off sleez bay. they guy said in good running condition and shifts smooth all we had to do was put a battery in . well it does neither of them. the carb is all messed up (but i may have one to put on it) , the solenoid is junk, reverse is gone, and now it is making a strange noise from the engine (sounds like a rattle with some ping mixed in).

now my question to you guys is does he bite the bullet and stick with it or does he just ditch it ? he already opened a dispute with ebay but it doesnt look like much is getting done by them. he spent 800.00 on this pos that cant get out of its own way if it wanted too.

ooops its a 1984 moto 4 225. its kinda nice but there is allot of problems with it. that was 800.00 delivered. atvs around here go for allot for some reason.

Your brother got ripped. ahh well, it will teach him not to buy anything off ebay, unless its an immobile item. Like plastic or a chair.

WELL.... if it was delievered, and your brother excepted it, then its his fate that decided to keep it and find out the problems, If it said that it was runnign and working I would have wanted to see it run and everything working before I gave any kind of money for it. Ive done that in the past with atvs and now I know better, I will spend 3 hrs determining if something is worth even fixing if I have to. it apears you reap what you sowe

well when he droped it off it was 1 am and there was no battery in the quad so we couldnt exactly test it. there is no recoil either guys it only has 1 way too start and thats the starter.

update on this situation the seller is being investigated by ebay. they sent an e-mail giveing us a list of 3 things that will result of this. one is he can pay us back (refund) he will be ban for an undisclosed amount of time or be ban for life.

I hate Yamaha's policy of putting only electric start on some of their machines (the Warrior comes to mind...)

around here your lucky if u can get a quad for under $1000 so i can see y he jumped at the opertunity it sucks that its a pos but theres a lesson learned here never buy ne thing w/o hearing it run 1st hopfully he can get his money back
oh and my warrior has a pull start

Another thing I enjoy about those old Moto-4 225's is the HUGE space between the front of the engine and the front suspension. Whenever someone shows up at a ride driving one of those things, I always joke that they "forgot their kids", the ones that are supposed to ride in the front gap.
