i know it has to do with painting something but what does it mean

Its a form of painting with special "paint". Id say 1/3 stronger than spray coats.

Powder coat doesn't chip like reg. paint. It take an eletric charge to make the powder stick to the metal. Then after that the part is baked into an oven in which it turns hard. For under $500 you can have your own powder coat shop and mix your own colors. If you get a setup then you can charge your friends to do it and make your money back FAST.

Looks good too and really helps protect the frame. My xr250 was done and it sure takes a beating without a flake.
