yes. suzuki made a LT250R everyone i've know to have one had problems
with them.in my opinion they are not as good as the HONDA.

dont under estimate the lt250r! they are good machines. stock for stock they are equally as good as the honda version lacking slightly in handleing. The only other drawback to them is the aftermarket. I am pretty sure they were slightly quicker than the honda250r also.later---Joe 8)

I never had any major problems with either of my LT-R's (85 & 90). Someone who never owned one might think they are prone to glitches, but that can be said about any liquid cooled 2 stroke, let alone Honda 250R or Tecate. You will run into problems if you don't know what you're doing and have no clue how to keep a high performance engine in tune. The only real problems with the Zooks is you will need to rebuild the water pump every once in a while, the frames can be bent if you're a reckless idiot and if you're in the market for a used one, I can guarantee the rear shock will need a rebuild.

is $2500 a good price on a restored bored and stroked lt250r? and i think its a 1986

I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for any pre-87 LT-R - FYI - bored and stroked dosn't necessarily mean faster, a two stroke needs to have matching porting to go along with it or else you will actually loose horsepower.

The Lt250r's were a good mount..Just stay away from the 86 and (especially) the 85 models. The 85 had some pretty bad first year quirks that more or less turned it into a much higher maintenance machine if you are hard on it. 87 and up, the suzukis got to be a much stouter bike.

I would reccomend a honda 250r over them, but the suzukis can be made into a decent mount. In all actuality the suzuki motor has a touch more power in certain parts of the rev range, but the honda handles better and is more versatile all while being more reliable. 2500 sounds a bit steep for an 86, but it could be a good deal. Take it for a ride, put it through its paces...Check all structural supports. The frontend is known to be a touch flimsy and is almost always tweaked when owned by someone who is hard on the equipment.

The most common problems with the suzukis are the somewhat weak frontend (85 and 86 mostly, it was improved throughout later on), the waterpump, and the rear shock. One thing I have always hated about suzuki is they have used a semi-porous metal for their cases, which can or lead to some problems but most people do alright. The 500 had many more problems with the cases then the 250, simply becuase it made about twice the horsepower and ran cases of similar construction.

I too think $2500 is a bit steep, and 18-22 is probably more reasonable. The TRX is bringing quite a bit more at 28-31. As far as performance, Ill just this. A guy in my MX class races an LT250R, and last Sunday was the first time out of 5 motos I finally beat him with my 86 TRX250R, though its always been really close. He gave me a more trouble than the guy on the LT500, and in my opinion the LT250 will run circles around the Quadzilla pig on any decent MX track. The TRX big advantage is tons of aftermarket goodies, but the LT has alot too, though not nearly as many. If performance were the only measure, I wouldnt spend the extra money on the Honda (had I not got mine for $1795.00).
