It is Absinthe, A.K.A. The Green Fairy, so what did I win?
Absinthe
is flavoured distilled liquor, emerald green in colour, turning to cloudy, opalescent white when mixed with water. It inspired many prominent artists, writers and poets. Just to name a few - Vincent Van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, Manet, Ernest Hemingway - in fact his masterpiece " For Whom The Bell Tolls " was written under the influence of "The Green Fairy". Absinthe was first produced commercially in 1797 by Henry-Louis Pernod, who purchased the formula from a French exile living in Switzerland.

ABSINTHE HISTORY

Banned in the early 1920s and after more than 70 years of silence she is back, the Green Fairy! Aside from alcohol, Absinthe Alcohol contains a number of different psychoactive substances in the Absinthe Recipe. Among these thujon/thujone is of major importance, a substance released by the wormwood plant, known under the name artemisia absinthium. The Absinthe effects can be mood brightening, stimulating, even euphorizing. Today in Germany and other European Countries, the maximum thujon content permitted by law is 10mg thujone per kilogram in alcohol and 35mg thujone in the so called "Bitter Spirits". But Absinthe stands for more than the stimulating effects which once made van Gogh cut off his ear. Absinthe is culture, Absinthe is history and Absinthe is lifestyle.
How to drink Absinthe? In the former times of the Belle Epoque many intellectuals and artists confessed their love to the Green Fairy and met for the "Heure Verte", the green hour, in the bistros of Paris. They used a special Absinthe Spoon, Absinthe Glass and Fountaine to perform the ritual. Toulouse Lautrec, Baudelaire, Manet, Rimbaud, Verlaine and Gauguin were famous Absintheurs, just to name a few. Thanks to the European Community, the production is legalized once again and the Green Fairy experiences a true revival. The large assortment of replica accessories and the growing number of brands for sale from all around the world gives you the opportunity to plunge back to the fascinating times of the 19th century.

forgot to mention if you don't own a distillery and now how to properly make it there is a very high chance you could die. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absinthe Read this and more specifically the part about absinthe 'kits'. There is a 100% legal version of Absinthe in the U.S. named Lucid and is a truly authentic Absinthe.
