This project is based on a 85 200x frame.
I plan on using a 79 or 80 cr125 air cooled engine and flipping the rear axle over. I'm not in to big of a hurry but i will work on getting a cr motor when i have more money.

Well i have an 84 atc 300r and i am also building an 83 atc 250r mx bike so i figured a 125 would be pretty neat .

That 125 motor will be plenty for the 200x chassis.

The 125r mx project is coming along ok so far I replaced the bars with dirtbike
bars, replaced the top portion of the triple trees, replaced the rear steel wheels with stock aluminum, also patched the H trac rear tires now I am looking for someone who will trade my current 82 250r tank (rust free inside) for a 83-85 200x tank that is (rust free inside). Here are some update :pics:

Those tires on there are wicked looking, like Turf Savers on crack or something. What kinda tires?!

1upfront
06-07-2007, 03:50 PM
They are Ohtsu H-Trac R 901 and they are 18's the front is also an old H-Trac. Here is a close up pic.

So those are old-school TT tires, or what? I've heard people say Ohtsu H-Trac in reference to 500R drag machines and stuff, that might be a different one tho...

These tires are used for flat tracking and mx I believe, I will be using them for mx purposes.:naughty:

Ahh gotcha. What sort of track do you have, those look like they'd be good for blue-groove but loose soil might be a problem...

1upfront
06-09-2007, 05:33 PM
I don,t have a track but there are a couple of mx tracks for 4wheelers in my area that I will be playing around on, I wont be doing any serious racing with this trike at least not right away:naughty:

I'd keep the 250R tank on it. It looks good! Besides, if you put the 200X tank on it, it'll just look like a 200X.

Thanks for the link syko. 1up said that if he couldn't find a 79-80 cr125 engine for it he was going to put peddles on it. I sorta hope he doesn't find one.

Well after months of searching and researching 1upfront found and just won a 79 125 engine on ebay.:naughty: So I guess he won't have to put peddles on it after all.:( I'm sure he will post up some pics real soon.

Here's a pic of the new motor I got on ebay for my 125r airfooler project, finally!!! It took me a long time to come up with one of these worth using, I decided I would use the 79-80 cr125 motor and nothing else and what do ya know I found a real nice 79 pricey though:pics:

I think you got a pretty cool idea goin there. I've often wondered what a 200x would be like with a 125 2 stroke in there. Keep us updated

I'm going to mock up the engine and get the new mounts all welded up then I 'll pull the engine and send out the cylinder for re-plating, the factory porting in this thing is amazing and it runs a 33mm keihin.:pics:

What are your plan for the exhaust. It seems like the downtube is in the way???

As far as the exhaust clearing the down tube that should be no problem by the time I get the motor mounted in the chassis perfectly square. The hard part is going to be modifying the pipe I have to fit the bike.

Hey thanks guy's next step will be pulling the hub, removing the axle, then cutting the caliper mount off the swinger and sliding the axle in backwards, at this point I'll be able to start really lining up the motor in the frame because the sprocket on the bike will finally be on the same side as the motor and all I will have to do is get the two aligned and start fabricating some mounts, I will keep you guy's posted with pic's of the progress, this Saturday I have a dragrace at thunder valley so I may not get much done this weekend.

Looking sweet, I would stick with the 250r tank it looks way better than the x tank.

Ok I've decided to change the purpose of this bike it will be a flat tracker instead of an mx'r and I'll switch my 83 R rider into a rider/mx'r. Still no progress though sorry I've been busy and what little time I have goes to the dragtrike.

any reason you went with older aircooled versus newer liquid cooled?
newer would be much easier to get parts for.

I wanted the project to be an airfooler lol I've already seen a liquid cooled one on .org

I would like to see what this turns out like. Are the aircooled models much slower then the watercooled models? A close friend of mine has an 01 CR125 that ive ridden quite alot and its pretty quick.
