Does anyone have this set up? Polaris 400 cylinder on a 250r bottom end. Im interested in what exactly needs to be done to make this work step by step. Anyone on here ever done this?

Why not just graft on a fl400 cylinder and keep it all honda ?:)

There is an 88 trx 250r with the 400 pilot cylinder on it. Super bad ass.

What needs to be done to do the pilot cylinder? I have heard of this being done but the pilot cylinders seem quite rare where as the 400 polaris cylinders are a dime a dozen.

where did this arrise at? has it been done?? I guess if everything lines up and the cylinder isnt to tall for the stroke of the crank and pison, as well as the pin diameter matches up for the piston as well then it may work.....

The Polonda/Hondaris was done long before the Sabretooth came out. You have to weld and machine the cylinder a lot for it to go on, its definitely not a bolt on. The waternecks have to be re-positioned and all kinds of other great stuff.

The studs in the cases needs to be relocated, and cases bored for the polaris cylinder. You need to use long rod 250r crank too. If you are not going to all out drag race it and spend the big bucks modding the polonda, you are better off just buying a ProX 350-380 kit. I have a friend who has had 2 polonda engines and he pretty much has figured everything out on them, so pm me and I can get you in touch. They also weld kx500 reed cages on the polaris topend.

So the studs have to be relocated? I was under the impression that you weld and re-drill the 400 cylinder. I know the cases have to be machined to allow for the 400 cylinder. Is there a lot of re-porting involved? Im pretty sure i could do all the work if i knew exactly what to do. Dont these run the yz 250 crank rod also or can you get away with a stock trx long rod?

Hello am working on the polanda project I will keep you updated guys :)

Welcome to the boards. I've heard that these can be very potent engines if set up right. Good luck with this project. My son is big fan of the aircooled 250r 3wheelers. He has a couple that he drag races. One has the Hondaline 300 big bore kit on it and he is building another that will use the Odyssey 350 cylinder. When trying to make more power there is no replacement for displacement.

polanda?

Honda bottom, Polaris top? or vis-versa?

I remember somthing years ago in dirtwheels about a female sand dragger running one, I just can't remember the exact configuration.

dont forget all the problems with the Sabertooth's 100+ HP on the 250r bottom end......the trannies dont hold up to that kind of power.....
your probably better off putting a CR500 motor in your ride, and working that cylinder over to the MAX. then you will have insane power, in a reliable bottom end.

just dont forget to have the crank balanced to get rid of alot of the vibration.

The polanda is a whole entire different setup than the sabertooth 500. Using a polaris 400 top end on a 250r bottom end you end up with a good chunk of hp, somewhere around 60-65 im told, and it doesnt tear your bottom end apart. I have a cr500 in one of my 250r's, its a sick bike and is a absolute white knuckeled ride in the woods, but i think this would be better for an everyday ride.

The dunes here are great man you see lots of atv's (most are banshee's amd 4 pokes) and buggies (corvette supercharged engines and haybusa one's) lots of money involved, I wanted to be little different from them and do it the American style you know ride lt500 (530bigbore,fully ported check me on quadracerhq.com under lt500r gallery under Daraji lt500r), atc250r (ESR380 and polanda) and tri-z250 (moded by sprock bigbore and parts) the lt500 is almost done 95% complete but the three wheelers are half way through, because I really need big bucks buying those aftermarket parts :)
I have couple of questions would a +8mm crank be enought for polanda jug?
On this link I understood that the jug bolt should be relocated not the cases one so which one is right?
Polandas can go up to 440cc with customized piston and oem sleeve there are no bigbore's and if you want to check if am right or not you can go to aaenperformance.com they are making those cutsomized pistons at 120$ I think thats alot cheaper than buying bigbore sleeve if there was any and installing it in the cylinder.....
On September the season is going to start here and am not ready yet :( but I will be in a week or two
