I want to start a thread to track down parts that I never thought of using. There was a Tri-Z thread started a while ago, but that info is almost usless to a tecate owner. I seen on here somewhere that a kawasaki 550 jet ski piston will fit the big bore 300 kit?
Mojave rear rims will fit the front and back of the 85 and fit the back on the 86-87 models, "But they don't look without paint"
83-84 kx 250 cylinder carb and electronics.
Reeds from a kx 125/250 and 500 as well as the reed cage.
Swingarm bearings and seals are the same in msot of kawasakis line up.

I think its the JS300 piston that is used for the big-bores... The ignition systems from '86-'86, and probably '87 will fit as well.

The rear suspension linkage from the 83-4 KX250 will bolt up.
2001 Raptor shock will bolt up once the lower shock mount is drill out to size.
Dont hold me to this but I think Honda 400EX rear hubs will attach to the factory axle.
The 86-7 KXT rearend will bolt up tp the 84-5 KXT swingarm(have to use complete rearend)

EX hubs will work on the 86/87 Tecate, doubt they will work on the 14 spline 84/85 axle.

As far as the shock swap goes a 300EX shock will work as well. Top mount needs to be drilled out, not the bottom.

so if you use the entire rear end, pivot, dogbone and swinger it would all mount up with no probs, no mods? hey hey hey, bgm didnt you say that the 86 swinger is like 2 inches longer right?

I don't know if the whole 86-7 swing arm will bolt up to the 84-5 frame. I believe it was BGM who swapped in an 86-7 carrier, axle, hubs, sprocket, brake rotor, etc. to an 85 swing arm but I would ask him if you are wanting to do this.

I don't know if the whole 86-7 swing arm will bolt up to the 84-5 frame.

Almost will... Only the mounting tabs for the strut need attention... they must be relocated to the center... easy enough....

Will that make four??? I am a bit jealous...

That will make 3. The 85 Tecate UNI Track linkage and pivot will work on the 86/87 Tecate but you have to drill out the mounting holes. The bolt is too small for the 86 to work on the 85, there would be slop.

I don't have an 86 rear end in mine yet but I will. Cool thing with that is the T4 axle will work in the 86/87 Tecate carrier. You'll need the 4 inch extended axle to get +2 since the T4 is narrower.

This thread is sweet. I need a rear end and have seen many 86-87 rear ends on ebay.

The '86 KX250 cylinder is the same exact part as the '86--'87 KXT250... '85 KX250 cylinder will bolt directly on too, but it has a few differences...

A tecate 4 master cylinder will fit a tecate 3 84-5 models. You just have to flip it and make a new bracket.

Banshee shocks bolts right in, you just need to open the bushings for the lower mount (top stock on a banshee) and mount it upside down. No clearance issues at all and almost and exact copy of the stock T3 shock, but with a much better feel...

Tecate250

Can you mount a shock upside down and it will still function? I have a trx 250 r shock on my t3 and it is upside down. So a shee shock with the remote gas bottle will bolt up as well?

Hey guys.
As some know I need a rear fender for my '87 kxt. I could get one for a '84/'85 for a good price. (Just like that (http://www.maier-mfg.com/shop.cfm?action=list&page=list.cfm&criteria=101&makeid=30&modelid=359&modelyear=1984).)

Would that fender fit "more or less"? If I'd need to drill a few holes it won't hurt. The trike is just for riding.

The 84-85 fenders are way different. I never owned a 86-87. But to fab it up. Just get on on ebay they are always on there? What is wrong with the old one?

If you use the craptor shock you need!!!! to remove the air box. Unless you get a longer hose and get the shock fixed.

Try to find KX250s that match up to the years of T3 you have. Many parts swap. I have stripped an 84 KX and have 2 86 KXs.

mjquadracer. All you have to do is get a piece of aluminum plate. Drill 4 holes in it and mount the master cylinder in backwards.
Just like this

This is a FANTASTIC thread. I need to replace the rear shock in my 86 T3 and was figuring something else would fit.

A question on fitting the Banshee shock. I can see that the Tecate in the pic is an early (pre-86) model. Can someone confirm the shock will work on an 86 as well?

94kx500 Motor Just About Fits Perfectly With The 86 Tecate The Exhaust Is Close, The Radiators Atill Work Just Ahve To Ship Up The Gastank Upwarsde An Inch And Things Are Verry Close.

Lets see some pics Brapp.. This is something I would like to do in the future as well. I wonder if there are any advantages to using the 86-87 frame over the 84-85 frame?

its a direct bolt in just ahve to trip the frame a little bit to put the spark plug cap on and make upper and front motor mounts ( going to get done in the verry near future when i can get down to the machine shop!

Honda sport quad hubs fit 86, and 87 T3's. All you need to do is space out some hubs so the honda hubs don't bottom out where the kawasaki splines finish.

Picture is of an 87 T3 axle fitted with TRX450R alloy extended hubs.

In the photos I have installed 7mm spacers/collars in between where the hub stops and the axle starts.

where did you pick up the 7mm spacers? Im looking to run the same hubs on a rider.

Many of the Honda ATC's and ATV's came with spacers like that from the factory.

OZQUAD44

I had them made for me, alloy, machined on a lathe.

Done by a mate so I can't give you a price. You could find a few spacing washers to do the same thing.

Its pretty important that it is done, tightening the hubs onto the axle with the pressure acting on the splines ends may cause the hub to crack.

this hubs wont fit with the tecate wheels correct? you need to find wheels 10'' for a trx 450?

Oh yes, I forgot to add if you run honda hubs you will need to run Suzuki or Honda rims on the back to match the 4x100 (i think thats the bolt pattern) bolt pattern found on the hubs.

Means you can run 8", 9", or 10" wheels. It actually opens up your tyre choice because the factory Kawaski wheels are 10"

Its 4x110mm. It used to be Honda's bolt pattern but it seems that many of the other manufacturers have adopted it as well.

Anyone know exactly what piston is used for the 300 kit? I thought there was a 330 kit for the tecate and you could stroke it to a 350? Could be all wifes tales?

Does anybody know what the biggest big bore or stroker motor there is for the tecates?

Or if not what is ?

I'm curious about that myself. I could use a set of those for my 86.

They won't work on an 84-85 though. The A1's and A2's have a completely different spline pattern.

The swinger takes some modding, but can be done.

The B1 and B2 axle is a different diameter than the A1 and A2 where the bearing mates up to it. I believe the second gen axle is thicker. Maybe the carrier would swap over, but I'm not sure.

If you say for the 7mm spacers, those i made them myself in the lathe of a friend!

Very easy to made them.
I can make them for you for free if you intent to put the same hubs in your tecate:)

I have successfully modded an 86 swinger to an 85. it actually makes it a +2. I will get pics and show how it was done. If you want wheel spacers I just found that some polaris have the same bolt pattern, 4x156. I just got some bolt on spacers for my t3.

anyone got any front tire suggestions? most of the 22-11-10 tires I see are for drives. I was thinking about switching to the 23-8-11 honda size might open up options but that's a whole other can of worms

I would try making a new thread with your question since this one is really for people discussing what parts will fit from other machines. You'll get more responses that way.
