I ordered some parts for my friends bayou 220.
I had changed the shift shaft and the shift shaft spring.
The problem is that I had to shorten the shaft by 1/8 of an inch.
When I reassembled the clutch cover. The shaft was prying so hard on the cover that the shfter was stuck and the seal was no tight on the case.
So I shortened it and reassemble it without problem.
Did i made a mistake or are the kawasaki parts no good???

Was it a shaft specifically for that year model?

i think you made a mistake because oem parts are designed to fit right the first time, because they are the parts that came with the machine most of the time. its mostly aftermarket parts you have to fool around with. oem company’s make their parts a direct replacement, so in the shop their mechanics dont have to fool around with the parts to fit right and cut, grind, alter, etc them, so their easier to install. but aftermarket parts usually dont fit right, because the company’s cant copy the oem designs, they usually dont spend a lot of money on developing the parts, and usually they are a smaller company.

Front part of the frame. Sometimes, this little tag wears or falls off, leaving you screwed.

Assuming that tag did fall off, you could take the engine / chassis numbers into your local dealer .
