This topic has been brough up on alot of forums so I though id start one here!
Well for me it would have been a few months ago..
I was planning on going on a long ride with some friends out in the middle of nowhere to find some new trails to get to another town where theres alot of old slate dumps, but at the last minute everyone bail out so I was on my own. I knew basically all the trails to get there but none of them after I got deeper into the woods. Alot of the trails were not rode for a long long time and most of them were covered in tall weeds of fallen tree and such. So after I followed one of the ancient trails I came across some large 4 wheeler tracks (ITP 589's or TITANS) so I decided to follow them thinking they knew where they were going. Well after following them not knowing exactly where im at the tracks go in and out of trails and lots of turning around. Eventually I had no idea where the tracks went and just kept going through the trails in the general direction of the destination. I finally found some recent trails with some semi fresh dirtbike and quad tracks that I followed and then soon reailzed I was going in the completely opposite direction, so I turned around and cut off into a side trail that lead into a small valley where I found a small campsite with a OLD firepit with really old beer cans and some old rusted 55 gallon drums. So I shut off the X and got off and was looking around seeing what some of the brands they had back then and was digging through the coals and found some kind of old rusted knife. While I was looking at the knife looking for a name or brand of some sort, I started hearing breaking branches and leaves rustling coming from a short distance away. So I got back on the X ready to leave when it just stopped for atleast 10 minutes. I got off and was walking around trying to find some service for me cell phone to listen to the new voice mail. By the time I found a signal on top of this little opening on top of the valley I noticed the branches breaking again so I just stood there listining. Obviously the noise kept getting closer and closer, So I didnt know what to do except stand there. So after a few minute the noise came into the creek in the valley and was splashing up closer to where my X was parked by the campsite. So im standing there and a middle aged guy dressed in full camo with face paint came running full bore out of the creek and approached my trike and stood there for a minute looking around. I was watching him but he didnt see me as I was on top of a large hill. So he just took off..... Into the woods and kept going and didnt stop as far as I could see. I have no idea how he got out there except walked. But the thing is there is no roads or houses for about 25 miles, and its a very thick pine forest that makes it really hard to walk through for that distance. He didnt have a gun or anything, and it wasnt even hunting season.
Some other things I found were burnt cars riddled with bullet holes, a large tractor in middle of the woods ran up a tree with no trail left behind, a spruce tree growing in the middle of a school bus, and a old brick farm house from long long ago half buried inside of a hill.
So what are some of the things you've seen, or found?? :beer

Where I used to live in Rio Rancho New Mexico there were lots of what they called unmaintained roads right outside of my neighborhood and one day me and a friend where riding there I was on my 84R looked like crap at the time but ran great and my buddy was on a polaris cyclone and we saw these stupid guys trying to climb this big hill that we called junkyard hill in there siebring convertible and when we rode by one of them gave us a bad look. Ok so a few weeks later I was on my R with a buddy on the back and we just finished a doob:D so I was just cruising slow and my buddy looked back and saw that siebring with the top down, and he said something and when I looked back the passenger had a riffle or a bb gun aimed at us out the top of the car and I just took off full throttle and when I was topped out I was loosing them on the rough roads and I hit this big bump and launched the bike and landed perfect, and then I hammered the brakes and hung a left, and then a right and ripped up junkyard hill and parked the bike and we just saw the car creeping down the road with the front bumper cover hanging and dragging the ground, I guess the guy hit the same bump I did and nose dived in that front heavy car.
It was so funny I guess they got what was coming to them, it was scary as hell though, me and my buddy damn near crapped our drawers!!!

Many riding stories...Been shot at by drunk hunters a few times, seen people screwin, partying, etc...
One of the better ones I can think of:
I grew up in southern vermont pretty much in the middle of the green mountains...There was a fella that had a camp about 5 miles out from my parents house. Everyone that knew him called him Jungle jim and the guy was simply put, tweaked. The kicker was, he rode around on an old sportster 900 with dirt tires and custom exhaust. I had heard stories of him and he apparently hung out at the local bars pretty frequently. A few times out hunting and camping there was that unmistakable distant roar of a harley, but we were close to 15 miles from any traveled road.
So one day me and my best freind are out on the trikes...Me on my 200x and him on his 225dx. We stop to talk 3 other kids from across town about a mile from Jim's camp. After having a smoke and discussing where we should go the kids decide against our advise to go up to Jims and the kids are planning on going up there and tearing up the place. Andy and I stay at the bottom of the trail knowing bad things are about to happen.....
About 25 minutes later we hear the unmistakable roar of a sportster coming down the trail, the trikes completely drowned out. We simply watched as the trikes go by and then Jungle jim on that outrageous harley with what appeared to be a 30-30 on his back...Mind you these were rough trails and this guy was going like a pro....We simply watch with our jaws dropped and decide to high tail it outta there after.
Fast foward 2 years later. Im out taking a break on a particular spot that I liked to stop on my rides. I hear some rustling and spotted none other then Jim walking up to me with his rifle. I stayed calm and he simply came up to me and said "Yaknow you and your buddy are good kids, keep outta trouble and try to watch out for your neighbors when ya can eh?" and simply turned away and walked off.....
Believe it or not this is true... I wonder if Jim is still out roaming around on that old hog chasing punks around.

At Killpecker Dunes WY we found a Wolf and a bunch of blankets or what looked like sleeping bags, we called the BLM they came out and said it was a "dog" they didnt dig any deeper than what was on the surface, they said they were calling the local county cops to do that, never did hear if they found a body or not.
Everybody their agreed the thing was too big to be a dog and it was a wolf, the 'offical' word from the BLM was it was a dog, he later said a wolf got hit by a car a month before 50 or so miles from this place and they had the road closed for 2 days whilst they investigated the accident, we all got the impression they said "dog" to avoid a stressful investigation.
To the left is the blankets right is the "dog"

Years ago locally a friend and I rode a trail that is about 3 miles long made up of straight up and down kill climbs every 200' the pucker factor is high, at the end is a nice creek to cool off in, we thought we were riding back then until we got to the end and found 2 couples camping, they drove their VW bus back their lol amazing where one of them will go when you "dont care if it makes it or not..."

Makes you wonder sometimes what the police cover up. I just read another story on another forum where the police kicked some atvers out of the woods while they were pulling body bag looking sacks out of there. Luckily I never ran into anything like that. Also today when I was riding way way out in a old setiment pond area with a bunch of very wide open fireroads, I was parked on top of a big woodchip pile with some pretty fun hillclimbs when I see a little kid probably only 7 years old riding out there on a suzuki lt80 all alone. I was about to follow him and ask him what he was doing out there alone and to see if he was lost but by the time I got down from the pile he dissappeared into the maze of trails. :(

I'm lucky enough to live in the Appalachain mountains, so pretty much anywhere you ride you always find something really cool. Lots of old pioneer villages that are still standing. Or finding an old trial no one has been on in years and coming across remains of towns, sometimes only an old chimney that is still there. Old mines with the tracks and mine carts that they used donkeys to pull carts out with. And then there are somethings you find way out in the middle of no where that no one has a clue what is is or how it got there.

Me too. We were shooting at a local spot. You figger they heard the gun fire nearby. Anyways, it got dark about 10 pm when we left. Went around the corner towards the road and there in the middle halfway down sat a mustang I think. We pulled up to it. Inside was a couple in the back seat minding their own business until I flashed the brights in there. I guess they figgered it wasn't just a passing car when the guy looks up.:naughty: He had this smile from ear to ear you think someone sliced his neck open. :welcome: After hurredly putting on his pants, he came out the wrong side all beet red trying to avoid our smiling looks. The girl was under a blanket and could not be seen in the back seat unfortunately.
Then there is this semi trialer out in the hills where there is no road. Its all rusty and falling apart but who cares. It doesn't have a couple inside!

I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Medium sized city surrounded by suburbs and another medium sized city about 5 miles away. The rest of the state is small towns and farm land. One of my friends parents live in the city but own a farm about 150 miles away from Mnneapolis in Alexandria Minnesota. Back before my 250R was stolen we used to throw my R and his 400ex on the trailer and go riding out there for a weekend with a case of beer or two. One day about 2 years ago we left right after school and arived in Alexandria at about 5:30pm. We cooked some hot dogs and had a few beers, it was a beautiful night so we decided to go for a ride. We rode down the dirt road for about 7 miles past a few farms to this giant wooded area that seemed pretty abandoned. We went in and we were cutting through trees and shrubs and having a great time, we did this for a while and went deeper and deeper into the woods, after a while a very distinctive smell started to get stronger around us, kind of skunky.. if you know what i mean. We kept going until we arrived at a flat spot where it looked like someone had cleared the trees with a skidder. It was starting to get a dark, it was about twilight. We saw big giant stinky green plants everywhere... yes, it was a marijuana field. At first we thought it was probably just some local kids messing around, then we proceeded to ride around the perimeter of it. It seemed like it was about the size of a football field. It was a full blown 6 figure operation. Like someone was defiatley getting rich off of this. We explored a little bit and then decided to leave because it was getting pretty dark and my headlight was broken at the time. For the rest of the night we drank a ton of beer and had a bonfire and talked about what we had just seen. The next morning we went back to the woods and tried to find it again, I think we found the spot but when we got there on the perimeter there were 2 brand new lifted Chevy trucks with no one in them parked outside, one with a gun rack in the rear window. Screw that, we went riding elsewhere... lol. I gotta believe they must have heard that 2 stroke though, i'm suprised the guys weren't waiting for us with guns pointed at our heads. Awsome weekend though.

eric250r, what were thoes random cement bunker things used for? And I can bet some of thoes old cabins were distilling shacks :beer Ever find any abandoned moonshine stills up in the mountains? There used to be tons of operations up in the mountains during the prohabition.
The marijuana operation one is pretty odd to. I cant say I ever stumbled upon a whole weed field. But there was a huge bust close by and heard rumors about some of the marijuana plants being 12' tall and took a chainsaw to cut them down? I believe it since thoes things can grow and grow and grow.

I have seen some weird stuff riding in coal country in pa, fans the size of a house, etc. But the weirdest thing I have was in Bay View(something like it) in nj. We were riding on these trails and there was a t, we went left, then another t, went right and to the left of us was this huge camper, camp fire, it looked like somebody lived there. Now this was 20 miles in the middle of the woods, how it go there I can't imagine. We rode past it very quickly, as we are heading back the same way, we saw somebody there, this guy looked like he resembled a cave man, we moved even quicker past the site and this guy waiving a stick was chasing past us. We were scared out of our minds. I have never seen anything so weird or scary.

No clue what the cement bunkers were used for. That was one of those things that no one knows how, when, or why they are there. Oddly have never found remains of old stills, guess when the shiners were done they cleaned up everything...lol. And I didn't even think to mention the pot fields, that's such a common thing here that you don't even pay attention to it when you find one. That or you already knew who planted it....lol. On a side note, my Grandfather used to run shine back in the " day " :beer

yea, cool stories, one place where i ride is right along side a road, so it was a cold winter day and these guys were riding wheelies up the public road on dirt bikes and atvs, they were riding on the right side and it was a double yellow line, and where the road is there is a bend and a tunnel, so you cant see whos coming, so this one guy is riding a wheelie up the road on a dirt bike, and a cop rounds the corner behind him, so we are all think the cop is going to get him, but the cop goes and pass him on double yellow, over the line and around the dirt bike and keeps on going. i guess it was too cold. thats about the strangest thing ive seen except burnt out cars, trash, etc.
has anyone seen something really weird, like a skull, a house with people in it in the middle of now where, just anything really weird.

this happened back in 1993 somewhere in that time, thinking about it now, I wanna go out there again. lol
My friends dad Charlie answered an ad in the newspaper, that said 10 acres of land for 1000 dollars, guess it belonged to an old farmer, and Charlie decided to buy the land,(he had just moved here (Southern Utah) from California, and I guess he thought 1000 bucks was an amazing deal, so he bought it sight unseen) he called me and said I needed to come over to their house and see what he got with the deal. Turns out Charlie had his Big Red in the back of his truck, and when he showed up at the farmers house to pay for the land, the farmer said his son used to race Threewheelers back in the day, and broke his leg on one, and it had been sitting in the barn ever since, the farmer said since he bought the land he would throw the trike in for an extra 10 bucks, yes 10 bucks. It was a pretty clean Tri-Z (85, red/black) but you could tell it had been wrecked hard at one time, so I suppose the farmers story was true. (oh yeah, Charlie was the guy who got me hooked on trikes, I was 12 at the time, and got to ride his trikes every time I came over)
Anyhow, this was the perfect opportunity to test ride the Tri-Z (it ran, all it needed was some fresh fuel) Charlie was nice enough to invite me to come along with him and his family to go see this property he bought. I asked him where it was and he said it was just outside of a town called Modena, Modena is an old town built around an old filling station for steam locomotives, and was all but abandoned when the Deisel Locomotives came about.
I rolled my eyes, I knew where Modena was, Charlie didnt.... Its WAY out in BFE!, nothing out there but sagebrush and wild horses,(or so I thought) probably 50 miles or more from any sort of gas station, let alone a town.
About 2 hours of driving later and 5/10 miles down a dirt road (away from the already BFE town of Modena) We arrive at this smokin hot peice of real estate, lol. It was 10 acres of nothing but sagebrush... Oh well, wasnt my money that paid for the land. Time to unload the trikes! We got to riding around, Charlie was making sure everything was OK on the Tri-Z, and we head off down some random dirt roads, as we are riding we begin to realize we are not alone... There are big fences with razor wire on them to the south of us, and large "No Trespassing or you will be shot" signs every hundred feet or so, they were all hand painted and didnt look too official, so we werent too concerned. About 10 miles out towards the horizon, we see lots of little buildings, and this HUGE white Pyramid, yes a Pyramid, we sit back trying to figure out what it all meant, and all then we hear a plane approaching, "ok, whatever, its just a plane flying around out here" then it begins to circle us... we obviously figure out that we somehow got someones attention, looking towards the buildings, we see a big white van cruising at a high rate of speed down a graded dirt road, as it got closer we see its full of people, and the driver of the van didnt look too happy, hes waving his arms at us, pointing at the signs (which we never crossed) pointing at the sky (im sure to let us know that the plane was with him) you gotta remember we saw him coming for 10 miles and we never moved, we did nothing wrong and we knew it.
When the van finally came sliding up on us in a cloud of dust, the guy rolls his window down, and yells "State your business here! Now!" I kept my mouth shut, but noticed everyone in the van was looking straight ahead, not saying a word, and they all had rifles (like 6 guys in this van) Charlie began talking to the guy, telling him about the property he just bought, and how he was test riding the threewheeler, and made sure the guy knew we never crossed over their fence or gates... after that the guy calmed down, and we asked what the big deal was anyways... He started going off about how he and his "people" lived out here and worshipped the sun, pyramids and egyptian gods... It was some weird Cult Compound, freaky stuff I tell ya.
Charlie got a kick out of it, and kept asking him questions, they talked for like 20 minutes while I just sat there and listened... I remember the guy going off about this cinderblock pyramid they built (its like 10 stories or more high, you can see it clearly, and know that its a pyramid) and how they have it set up with some certain angle between the sun and the earth and stars and moon an such, I was doing my best not to laugh... then the guy goes into a huge tirade about how they built the Luxor Pyramid in Vegas all wrong, and how its going to upset the gods... oh man, it was fuuuunnny. After they were done talking the cult people parked behind their gate and watched the entire time we were riding with binoculars, and followed us from about a mile back after we got loaded up, and stayed there until we got to the highway.
Sorry for the novel, but I kept remembering details as I went along....
it sounds crazy I know, but you cant make this sorta stuff up. lol HH:Bounce

 That was well worth the read! There are some  people in this world.
I think the craziest thing I saw while riding, was last year when it flooded, all the roads had 6-12" of water covering them, which of coarse all the water came from the river. Anyway, I was riding down the road, and there was a 2 foot long king salmon sitting smack in the middle of the road. When I got close to it, it shot off, so I chased it down to the end, and it ended up swimming off into the forest and I couldnt chase it anymore. I must have been doing 25-30 mph, water flying everywhere, and I was right on the tail of it the whole time, but I couldnt ever pass it. My 3 wheeler got outrun by a damn fish!!!

I've seen some pretty neat stuff over the years out in the mojave desert. I've seen a stealth bomber about 100 feet above groung just hauling above a desert lake bed. I saw it another time cresting over some rocky hills. There are all kinds of desert oddities, rock formations, abandoned mines and homes and pioneer gravesites in the desert. That reminds me, me and my Dad got hit by a grouse on a street bike. I was on the back, and the dam bird was on the shoulder, and flew right up into our helmets. It bounced off the front brake handle first, then we both ducked, and got swiped by the bird. We both had feathers stuck in our visors!
Luckily we didn't get knocked off.

Animals get hit more than you think! Last week I was riding down the railroad tracks in 6th gear moving pretty good when this rabbit comes out and is running beside me. I want pinned just cruising over the whoops and the thing is keeping up somehow! So I go faster and faster until it starts to slow down behind me then I let it catch up and the stupid thing ran straight into the rear right tire. I couldnt find it after i hit it.

This wasnt all that strange considering. My brother and I were riding in the swamps in Pensicola Florida, and we counted around 30-40 burnt up cars. It was actually kinda cool. People go back there 4-wheelin, when they get stuck the only way out is with a bigger truck. No tow trucks can get back there, all sand and water. the cars sit back there until they find someone to pull them out, or until the local kids burn them down!
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k300/ericbsemail/Picture002.jpg
There were old Cadilacs, Toyotas, a brand new Kia suv, all that had been burned. On the way in there was a truck stuck in one of the first puddles with a note on it: "Please do not trash my truck, I just got stuck on Thursday. If you have a truck that can pull me out, please call--------."

I've got a video somewhere of a military helicopter with a big honking machine gun buzzing all the riders at Glamis last season. It was actually pretty sweet. They were flying LOW. When you say buzzing you mean ? shooting? I actually shot one of thoes m134 miniguns they mount in the choppers. It had the handle with no mounts so you had to hold it. It weighed a ton with all the air valves and tubes and was very very loud. It went through 300 rounds in a few seconds too.

The F16's from the March Air Force Base(I think) always used to get really low; probably a good few hundred feet. They would zoom in low then push afterburner and go verticle. Always a good show. SOOOO loud though!

Ah! I thought buzzing was when they shot the minigun. It seriously is like a buzzing noise when they fire it. Im not up on all the military lingo :beer

I've gotten buzzed by more small planes and ultralights than I care to remember.
One really scary thing was when we were drag-racing some stuff (cars, bikes, atv's, etc) at our local small-craft airstrip. Two guys on trucks went off on a run and they almost got clipped by a landing small plane. Everyone thought it was gonna be a big wreck.
Then when we came back after a week or so, the place was closed off with gates and chains and stuff. I guess we scared the pilots into closing the place to ground-traffic.

Over the summer. Me and my budds rode by a camp sight and saw a naked girl running to her tent. I guess she thought we were the people camping with her till she seen us. We almost crashed into each other trying to stop and point it to each other.

Very low fly by with the gunner hanging out the side waving at everybody.
The Military does that out at Four Peaks all the time with a Apache Helicopter. They landed one time at the old ranch at the bottom. I was there & walked over to greet them & say Hi. Very cool guys to chat with. They said that they go out there & use people riding for targeting practice. They don't shoot at anyone, it's for training a newbie with the targeting instruments.
Nothing scarier than being 6th gear pinned down a dirt road with an Apache right on your tail. It's all good though, they are not armed, nor is the Apache. Every time I have my camera, they seem to fly off in a hurry & I cannot get a good pic of them. Someday though, I will get a good pic.

this isn't something I saw, as so much heard.
one night me and a friend of mine decide to take my old 250 beartracker out for a ride behind the house. we drive 4 or 5 miles into the woods, turn around to head back, and stop for a bit to smoke a cig.
as soon as the bike kills, we hear this strange growling and grunting coming from the woods, maybe 30 or 40 feet away.
then we hear trees breaking, not branches mind you, but trees. it's a completely original sound, think of a breaking branch, but amplified, but just repeated cracks. like trees 5 inches in diameter just getting snapped.
and it's coming closer.
so we haul ass, only problem was that at 30 with a passenger, I couldn't really dodge the mudholes, so we get stuck, I get off and start pushing, and keep pushing, running behind the fourwheeler through the mud holding onto the rack, creepy part was the whole time I swear I could hear something pounding towards me.
the end result is, if I go riding at night now alone, I carry two things, a gun, and a cell phone.
to this day, no idea what that was, but it was scary and had very heavy footfalls...a bipedal sort of run.
creepy.

I've run across a rather large largemouth bass flopping around in the middle of a trail out in the middle of nowhere.
My best guess is that it floopped outta someones creel as they were riding back from the rtesivior... (several miles back)
still kinda weird to see.
I've also ran into some couples doing the hokey pokey.. not that uncommon.. but this was in the middle of winter.
I've also cought a an oldr fellow pleasing himself along side the RR tracks once... you woulda thought he'de put it away since most likely he heard me coming... IDK.. never stopped to talk to that fellow. :D
Oh.. the best one was we were out camping out behind a lake and decided to go for a high speed night ride around the lake. the one section of trail is wide and flaty.. so you can get going at a pretty good clip. all of a suddon outta nowhere this big ass great horned owl decided to fly right down the middle of the trail only a few feet from the ground. that scared the crap outt me qas all I saw was these bi glowing eyes and the biggest claws I;ve ever seen coming right at me. needless to say I drove off the path into the woods to avoid being dinner! LMAO!!!

beside all the old houses and cabins you find in the mountains and like in the first post i did run into a dude with a ar-15 with full camo and face paint in the middle of noware
back in the early to late 80s we had a local rideing spot we called agway (it was right behind a agway warehouse)
anyway one day wile rideing there this real neat but odd looking 3 wheeler was flying around .... well once he stoped i started talking to him and it turns out it was a cajiva ( spelling) and he had a back pack with him with a new top end end in it with all the gaskets and stuff like that.
he goes on to tell me that he is testing this thing and since it was real hard to get parts he always took a extra top end with him when he rides.
who knows if he was telling the truth but this is the only cajiva i ever saw in real life.
not to long after that dirtwheels tested a cajiva 200 and it was this trike that i seen but never heard about till then

well last month me and digity were out on the lake riding with a few friends and happened to get stopped by the sheriffs for riding un registered (oops) and while they were writing all of us tickets we had a small cesna plane do a flyover, so close i could hold my hand up and almost touch the wingtip as he banked around us and could see the guy in the passenger side of the plane smiling and laughing at us.
2 years ago we were out riding in a very secluded part of the adirondacks and minding our own busness, when we stopped to have a smoke break. sitting on our bikes all we could smell was the familiar smell of skunk, lol. and no it wasnt the animal giving off the odor either, we stopped right by a huge crop someone was growing. continued on our way, and on the way back through heading back to the trucks, just past where we stopped, we spotted a guy racing down the trail with a crap load of the stuff on the back of his 4x4. he saw us and was gone!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha.

While riding in the next town over, I came across a bull moose. not too big, but still. These little kids probably 7 - 9 years old were chasing it with sticks and rocks. there was a pack of about 20 of them, none had shirts. They crossed the path about 50 yards ahead of me. It was one of the strangest / funniest moments of my life. The moose took off, with the weirdest look on his face

I haven't found realy found any crazy stuff around here, just a bunch of random junk. I found an automatic transmission that was all taken apart and rusted.
At a pit not to far from my house where there is a bunch of junk laying around I saw a matress, I went back about a week later and it was all burnt. At that same spot I found saw lawnmower handles sticking out of some sand, and I thought that they were attached to the mower body under the sand. So I gave the handles a good pull, and they slid easily out, and I fell over backward.
At another pit by my house there always is a bunch of stolen bikes, and last time I was out there, there was a snowmobile that someone had set on fire.

We were riding our dirtbikes (07 cr250 and 09 wr450) through a pine plantation about an hour south east of where i live ( new years holidays just gone) Came belting down a single trail, 4th gear, and half a dozen emus ran onto the track in front of me. I dont think i have ever sucked up the seatcover like i did then, still pulling chunks of it out of my arse. I managed to avoid hitting the long necked pricks though!
About 6 months ago i was riding around at the top of the rivervalley by this huge gravel pit. I was looking down the cliff checking the view out. Then i seen just up the trail a big burn spot. So i ride up there and theres this dual axle car trailer with a brand new jeep on it burned to a crisp, it was still warm. I dont know how it got there, the trail is wooded heavily and tight. Looked like they tried to back the trailer off the cliff while it was burning or something. I see lots of crazy stuff up here. kids always trying to get their new car out to some remote area for some ungodly reason. When i had my big toyota 4x4 i think i pulled out more cars on the trails than built trucks..... lol
trying to dig up some pics here...

On Friday night we were riding trails and we stopped at a set of railroad tracks for a break. I have ridden there many times, but a train rarely comes past when we ride the railbed. It was aobut midnight and we could hear a train coming a few miles away, so we pushed out 350X's away from the tracks and close to the brush. All the sudden we see the locomotive's HUGE headlight and about 50 coal cars whizzed past. It was just surreal standing only a few feet away (no where to go really) and feel the breeze, and the noise, and the ground shaking as the cars sped by. Also kinda scary because if it decided to derail (a rarity I know), that would be the end of me.

Had that same thing happen to me a few years ago Keister. I was the second to last one to get over the tracks, the wind that comes off of those things is INSANE when you are that close to them.

I was out riding my trike(185s) down by globe(in the high desert of arizona), anyway where we camp is about 10-12miles off the road, and I went for a trail ride up some pretty rocky hills on a trail just a little wider than the 185(maybe a couple feet),I went back im guesing a few more miles,by this time im around 15-18miles from the nearest paved road. I stopped to take a break and was looking around, well down in a wash was an old car all rusted out,but the chrome was still shiney new!,looked like a 50's chevy to me.The axle was still there, all the body parts(will bullet holes),but it didnt have an engine. I have no idea how they got that huge car out on that trail, why it was out there,or who may have been killed in it! lol

That is very cool to be 2 feet from a roaring freight train...
Last Year Sprock and Eric was in Wellsville with us.
We were crossing the tracks and all of us were hung up between the rails. We look up and see a Train comin around the bend Right At us..
We were like SHIAT...I literally threw a Banshee and TRX 250r, about 8 feet each within 10 seconds, thinking the train was gonna plow us..
Then the thing hits the split in the tracks and goes down the different track..LOL
You ever seen a 5 ft tall midget throw 2 400 pound quads 8 feet?..LMAO

great stories guys! Another thing I found a while ago when I had my X was a wooden shack built on top of a huge rock out in the woods from what I believe to be in 70s or 80s, FILLED with old porn magazines, walls covered in ripped out pages, and lingerie hanging all over the ceiling, I could only imagine what went down in that shack LOL. All the magazines and photos were dated around the early 80's also, but had a good laugh at how well it was built. Even had a fire pit dug in SOLID ROCK, not sure how that was done. And this place is deep in the woods, not sure how they got the wood out there.
Also in the same area a friend showed me a place on top of a hill that is completely engulfed in very very thick mountain laurel, where you park at the bottom and walk up through the mess of laurel to a perfect circle opening surrounded in giant rocks, I mean these rocks have to be atleast 500lbs or more A PIECE, and there is about 10 or more of them, and inside they're are smaller rocks shaped into chairs, and a fire pit in the middle. Only thing I can think of is some very motivated hippies. Some carvings in the rocks date back to the 50's, so it was obviously there for a while.
Again, in the same area there is a labyrinth of underground caves a friend showed me in 03', you crawl in this little hole in the ground and it seems to just go down, and down, and down to where it is just water, but you can drop a glow stick down it and watch it go out of sight. You dont want to fall into that! There is another little room you can go into which almost looks dug out, like a dome. Where there is candles and chairs, kind of a weird thing to find 40' underground. Also many smaller holes I couldn't fit into but you can tell other ventured into them and painted stuff along the way.
Kind of funny to see the major improvement of my grammar skills in 2 years lol.

ran into a baby black bear once...i ran the other way!
came outta the woods once to only realize i ended up in an open mineing area so was booking trying to get out the way out them big stone halling truck with the 30ft high tires!
found some machines with keys in them at a coal power plant in towercity PA about 13 years ago

Back in the late 80's we were riding at Occotillo Wells in the California desert we came across an old Ford van (the little 60's toaster vans) in the middle of the desert. The vans front windows had metal over them welded in. The drivetrain was gone, it was sitting on the frame. The front had wood covering the grill/headlight area and was fiberglassed over. The doors were welded shut. The rear barn doors were open and had the hasps for 2 padlock type latches on them. The rear tailights were also wooded and fiberglassed shut. The inside was bare.
It looked like someone had locked somebody inside of it. I wish I had pictures.
Another time at Occotillo Wells we came across a couple of guys in a class 5 baja racer. They were both out of their minds on something. They would get going about 50 mph and cut the wheel hard left or right and roll the baja several times. They would climb out laughing.. Roll it back over on its wheels and do it again.
I have also seen the original Bigfoot monster truck at Glamis back in the late 80's.
