I'm working on my friend's Mojave, I topped off the radiator because it was low, went for a quick ride, then I notice coolant leaking from the water pump housing. At first I thought the gasket was wher it was coming from, but it isn't. There is a small hole (1/16") in the casing right next to the pump housing, coolant starts seeping out from that hole only when the engine is running. Any body know what's going on with that? I thought about just plugging the hole, but it has to be there for some reason? Any help is appreciated.

It is called a "telltale" hole. Coolant leaks out of there when the mechanical seal is leaking.

Look up the fiche on bikebandit and get a price for the waterpump mechanical seal kit.

the hole is there so it does not leak into your trannsmission and goes out the hole instead

atc and trx250r's have it also

Any engine that is water cooled with a water pump has this. It is called a weep hole. One of the worst things that can ever happen to an engine is to get coolant into the oil.
