just picked up a 84 Odyssey 250 the problem is it starts and runs awsome when the rear end is jacked up in the air, the minute you put it on the grownd it bogs and stalls, when you pulll start it on the grownd it moves forwarda foot every pulll , i figured it was the clutch surface because they were rusted, i took of the belts sanded them down and wire wheeled them but it seems like there always ingaged , i figure its 1 of the clutches but i'm not sure on how to check them, any help on how to fix it, it's set up like a snowmobile, thanks

you need to pull the primary clutch out. sounds like rust has penetrated into the shaft and when you gave it throttle the primary clutch pulled its self in and could not release. is the belt tight? there should be around an inch of slack in the belt.

My Bravo snowmobile did the same thing the first time I started it after it sat for 6 years.

Spray down the primary clutch with WD 40 and try to spread the sheaves with a 2x4 and a mallet. That's what I did.

Yeah, a 250 zinger with no suspension is bound to be uncomfortable. The cool thing is you can get fiberglass "Jeep" bodies for them made by GnR Dirt Dogz (not sure if they're still in business).
