I was out in the garage working on a brake caliper, I put it in the vise and was turning the handle to hold it in place, it started getting snug when I hear this RIP and my freakin thumb bends back way more than it should. It started hurting like a mofo and swelling up, went to the emergency room, they gave me a splint and an appointment for a hand specialist tomorrow. I think I tore the muscle, hopefully it wasn't a tendon. Worst part is, it's my THROTTLE THUMB! I can barely move it now, still throbbing. Any body have this happen to them, an over extended thumb? You guys think I might have to a switch to a twist throttle? I hope not.

You might be able to get a throttle like a skidoo has, it looks like a brake handle, but is shorter and works your throttle, many mountain sleds have them so you can stand up and ride, might help you a little. Get better soon!

:wondering Wait, something ripped and you noticed your thumb bent too far.....How did you get your thumb stuck in the vise/caliper? Were you measuring the holes in it or something? Pix?

I was turning the handle, had my thumb on the end for leverage, when the vise was getting tight and I was really cranking it down hard the twisting force on my thumb was too much and she just let go.

Use the same throttle I converted my sister's Kitty Cat to. It's a bicycle shorty brake lever mounted on the right side of the bars. You basically pull it in with 1 finger to give it gas.

When I first got my 185 the throttle was on the left side and was operated with your index finger, was actually pretty comfortable position but I put it back the right way when I got a new throttle cable.

Best part is its free and reversable once you heal back up.

Doc says he thinks it's just torn muscle, not a tendon. That's good, should heal up in a couple weeks. :w00t:
