Well, it's happened again :(
Yesterday I went for a ride with some friends. 3 hour mud bog, got really dirty and got stuck a few times. Never had a nicer ride, until the last five minutes anyway. Coming back on a gravel road (which is legal in Nome) to town from our mud pit, I was going a little too fast. There was a small "jump", maybe a foot or two high, which I regularly mob over. Usually it just makes me wheelie over it and that's it. I suppose it must have been the speed or something, but just as my front tires start going on the downhill side of the bump, the rear end kicks up. My muddy hand slips off the bars and cuts off the throttle, which causes it to go nose first into the ground. The whole machine front flips and proceeds to tumble end over end about 3 times.
I bailed out before it went over, tore up my knee and arm pretty bad landing on the rocks on the ground. I get up and look for my friends, which are just now driving up. One of them jumps off his machine and helps me flip mine back onto its wheels, and I step back and assess the damage to the quad. The whole right side of the rear rack is bent nearly straight down, the fender is touching the rear tire, my home-made GPS mount is torn off and laying somewhere (thank god the GPS wasn't there...) and my tach no longer shows the RPMs (but still turns on when I start it). Also, my bars are bent down and my throttle is almost off the bar, the brake lever is pointing straight down and my brake light switch is broken off and dangling around...
For everyone who actually got this far/skipped down because of boredom:
I desperately need a front bumper (preferably the new-style 07 one... :p ) and a replacement rear rack (and preferably a set of bars). I am very short on cash, but have all sorts of stuff I can trade. Here's a small list of stuff I am willing to trade for parts or money:
- Nitro powered R/C car "Lightning RR" (built by the same company as HPI) with a ton of replacement parts, at least a complete new in package set of shocks, suspension arms, etc. Worth at least 300 dollars all told.
- Electric R/C car "HPI MT" with a complete set of tires, and lots of extras. Also have a Team Associated T3 chassis that needs 1 new axle, but is otherwise complete. Dynamite batteries included. Worth about 200 bucks all told.
- Ruger 10/22 rifle with wooden stock. Also have another one with a scope (don't remember the brand or power, will check ASAP). I'm not sure if it's legal to send guns via mail, but if you can I am willing to get rid of both of them. One needs a clip, the other has one.
And there's always a lot of mechanical parts I'm willing to get rid of, a couple of 110 pullstart assemblies, an SDG Speed-Mini 107 chassis/forks/swingarm, and plenty of other stuff.
