I hope that I am on the correct Forum.
I was just given a Honda 250r 2 stroke. Don't know much else about it and am trying to resource up on it.
The person that gave it to me had it in his shop for about a year with out starting it. Prior to this when he picked it up, both him and the prior owner rode it and there was nothing wrong with it. My friend just doesn't have the time to fool with it.
How do I find out what year it is?
I have found a site online that sells repair manuals by Clymer and I presume that this would be a good starting point to find out how to maintain/fix it.
I am NOT planning on racing it. My plans are to use it for hunting.
Any ideas/ help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi BigK - welcome to the boards. The best way to identify it would be to post a picture. If not there are lots of questions that will need to be answered for us to identify it. Question #1 - is it liquid cooled - ie does it have a radiator or not?

This would be about the last trike suited for a hunting machine - but to each his own. Many people here on the boards would probably be happy to trade you a Big Red for it - that would be the ideal hunting machine.

Enjoy your stay here - we all do.

Tim

This was not my first pick for hunting/riding, however free is free.
I didn't see a radiator. No headlight. Couldn't find an electric start.
Whats a Big Red?
Since it's a 2 stroke, should I take out the spark plugs, clean and spray some oil in the chamber before starting it?

a big red is the trike equivilent of a utility quad, you could get a decent one in trade for your 250r if you wish, many memebers here would be happy to have one. the bigred is just abou the best thing for hunting, but with a 250r you could just about get your choice of trike depending on the condition of your 250r

soundz like an air cooled 250r if the motor is red with a rear drum brake its a 81 if the motor is red with a disc rear its an 82 if the motor is black with a skinny front tire 23x7x11 its a 83-84

^^^ what he said, and I also agree that a 250R for hunting is certainly not ideal. But either way have fun and :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I figured using a drag. I'm not going to have to go too far. I have seen a trailer hitch that can be mounted for a trailer or a drag point.

I would like to play with the one I have first (I still haven't gotten it yet, most likely in a week or two).

If I was to make a exchange, how would this work?

to make an exchange just find someone interested in your bike and have themn come get it, lots of people do it
