One of my friends had a 185 like that, we ended up taking everything we could off the axle, soaking it in PB Blaster (which is like wd40 but way better), using heat, and putting a few nuts on the threads by the splines (nuts are so you dont mess up the threads), and beating it with a sledgehammer. Barely came out too. But dont give up, it took us several days of doing this before it came out.

Make sure your brake cable is disconnected so your brake shoes are in the all the way contracted in, at their narrowest, not expanded outward if that makes sense.

Heat does wonders - use a small map gas torch and heat up the base of the drum - where the splines connect to the axle - being a much smaller cross section - it should heat and expand at a greater rate then the axle - then as someone else said - try to beat the axle out - I use a block of hard wood over the threads and a big sledge.
