Yep, I'm building another bike. Its gonna be based on a 86 200x. 86 200x frame geometery, 86 200x motor(not stock either), steering stabilizer, pro-peg nerfs, 450r brake parts, 250r rear supsension, 250r rear brake, 250r carrier/axle and related parts. I'm gonna find some way of using a different gas tank, no that easy dented, quickly rusted tanks like are on ebay, I'm thinking 85/86 250r short track tank. Other stuff that might come along will be a different seat and fenders and seat latch. I wanted to use a 88/89 250r swingarm, but its 21" long and the stock 200x was 17", 4" is too much, so he'll have to make me a swingarm somewhere between 17"-19", the closer to 17" the better.

get Mike to make you a minus 2 trx250r one it'll be 19". he has made tons of those over the years.

he'll be building the whole bike, I was gonna ask him what would be the shortest he could make it, while keeping the 250r rear linkege. I'm giving him a nearly complete bike, so he has all the parts to test fit, also gonna bring a motor too. 86/87 200x stuff is hard to come by, so the more has, the easier and nicer the build will turn out. I wasn't worrired about the atc250r, as parts are very easy to get. I'm probably gonna ask him to make a few sets of motor mount brackets. It will defenetly use a 88/89 250r grab bar, 86/87 grab bars aren't the easiest to get. Parts availabilty will be my key here, the more stuff that is easy to get, the better.

I test fitted an 85/86 atc250r short track tank and I really like the look, so it looks as 85/86 250r gas tank and fenders will be going on it. Also with the short track w/o a radiator, I can turn the bars much further and it gives me a source of 1.2?- 4 gallon gas tanks and the fact as they are plastic too!!!

You definitely have my attention on this build as my 86 200X is going through it's third reincarnation right now too. I'm thinking of making my subframe removable. Also, how hard is it to fit a 250r swingarm on these?

Well, its getting made to fit a 250r swingarm, they look pretty similar, but the length is the big thing. This will be a new build from the frame up, so anything is possible, this thing will be how I want it, with the big importance of keeping the frame geometery.

I hear ya man. I actually want a plus 4 on my 200X, so the stock 250 swinger would work for me. I can't wait to see pics of the project tho. Also, if you want any advice on building up the motor I can definitely give you some info on that. I took mine just about as far as you can go and it lasted 2 years.

I am putting a 12:1 piston, web cam, +1 intake valve, porting, it has a 27mm carb and a cobra/350x supertrapp pipe. I'm not looking into going too crazy on the motor, reilablity is a big factor for me.

I have decided to change a few things, its gonna get all the changes I listed, but it will be put into a 86 atc250r and all 250r parts will be used for the chassis, stock 88/89 trx250r swinger will be used. It seamed just to make more sense doing it this way and I like how the 250r handles mx better.
