Well I just picked up a skidoo 800cc jet ski motor and I thinking about putting it in a 250r chasis. Anyone ever done this before. I am looking just for the drags at TF

That should go pretty quick!

how would this work? What are you doing for a drivetrain? how are you going to keep it cool?

yea man those jet ski motors need to be cooled allot more than a typical liquid cooled engine. so ive herd anyway. plus its a 800. those are some real scary motors on a sled. imagine a trike ? dam it will fly.

true but dales is a 670 rotax. the 800 rotax/ski doo runs allot hotter. either way it will be a fast scary ride when its done.

I guess thats why they call this shiz the Mad Scientist Lair.

Jet ski engines are direct drive right off the crank. Getting the power distributed to the rear tires would take a genious. Cooling the engine wouldnt be hard, some kind of radiator feed would take care of that.

Why not a centrifugal clutch like on a sled?

thats what i would do. its easy and it works pretty good.

Well as far as cooling the engine that will be the easiest part of it. The radiator will be taken off a sled and mounted were the r's already goes. The drive is going to be the tricky part. I will put up some pics as I go along.

sounds wierd and cool at the same time any updates?

but on a jet ski the engine uses a liquid cooled expansion chamber and the coolent runs threw passages around the exhaust port?

That's exactly right, The water escapes through the exhaust.... I don't know how you would get that to work? Probably better off using a snowmobile engine.

ya, maby keep the snowmobile engine in the snowmobile??? hahaha jk jk i have a friend that wants to put a 400 polaris liquid from a sled into his old 200s frame.... hes kinda crazy... and dumb lol

400 in a 200s? What a retard, that thing would be a death trap!

I thought about doing this before... If you hook up a radiator off a tecate to an the water inlet/outlet that would cover cooling but only for short runs. The Drivetrain i thought about using was simply using a motorcyle sub trany off a harley or offline. Simple pully and belt setup to drive the tranny and then a sproket/chain final drive to the rear tires. Thatll give you tons of gearing options. just a thought
