Special youth hunt at Camp Blanding, which is a military base in Florida. She shot it at about 85 yards with a Browing A-bolt 30.06. One shot through the neck, the deer flipped and never moved again. She even went along with tradition as you see in third pic.

I have hunted most of my life - but I am not familiar with this ritual - seems kind of harsh - especially for your little girl. Although on the flip side, I love me some heart - it's good eatin'

The only way I'm gonna get deer blood all over me is if I smash into one on my trike.....

I have hunted for a long time and have killed many deer but I have never smeared the blood over my face. I give her credit though she is a tuff daughter you got there.

Congrats to her! :)
I still don't support the idea of hunting but I'd rather not get into that.

I use to be stationed at Camp Blanding. It is a awsome place for hunting and off roading. I did it in a HMMV and a launcher though. I hope to return there some day.

Boy this thread has go me going. :Bounce My son is 11 this year so leagally I can take him out in the woods with me but he cannot carry a firearm until next year. I can't think of a better way for a father and there son/daughter to spend a day together out in the deer woods. Its really all just about spending time together and a deer is just a bonus.

Its long been a tradition in my family and hunting party to smear blood. I had it done to me when I got my first deer at age 21. a more civilized way is to cut their shirt tail so everyone knows back at camp (or the bar room :naughty: ) who the lucky hunter is.

So did you make her dress it out?

That's kool that she's learning how to hunt & shoot , But the Smear of Blood on the Face is totaly unnecessary ....

But the Smear of Blood on the Face is totaly unnecessary ....

It's a family tradition and she didn't want to be treated any different than the guys...

Its great to see a younger person enjoying the sport. Now a days seems like hunting isnt as popular with the younger crowd.

Congrats!

Not sure about the blood smearing, I'm kind of partial to our tradition of keeping a celebratory beer handy for the moment. :beer
