Just picked-up a '92 bayou 220, while I'm waiting for my clymers to come in I need little advice. First all it runs good but the shifter is stripped, how do I replace the shaft? Where is the best place to get brake cables, wheel bearings and battery. I've only had hondas in the past but I wanted a affordable 4-wheeler for my 10 yr old. Thanx Dan

it's a long tedious task, but you could take a smaller triangular file and re-do the splines at each place...unless it's so rounded off you can't see the old splines, that's the best I can do for ya bud, sorry.

i just replaced the shifting shaft on my 185 bayou. it was simple. all you have to do is pull the right side cover and pull the shaft through. i shouldnt be that expensive. the shaft cost me $35 brand new and the gasket cost $18. just watch how you pulled it apart and do it in reverse.

Thanx I heard it wasn't to bad. Still waiting for my clymers to come in. Then I'll jump on it.

You wont need the manual. You simply take the clutch sidecover off, and pull it out. Its slides all the way right through.
