I'm supposed to be trading an old 80hp Mariner outboard today for a 2002 Yamaha Warrior. The top end supposedly went out. The guy said it didn't smoke or use oil, he was running it hard and went to gun it and it lost all compression. He said it shifts good, doesn't leak oil. It has brand new wheels/tires all around, a durablue adj. axle, alum. front bumper, jet kit, etc.
I have read mixed reviews on the Warrior, but my main runner is a 250es big red so if/when I get it running I'm sure I'll be impressed with its speed.

Any advice on this model will be appreciated. Hopefully a top end is all it needs.

Well I talked to him earlier and he said he could keep up with his buddies 400ex. I'm really not worried about speed, at this time anyway.

How big is the quad compared to trikes, like my 250es?

its not a huge fourwheeler, but its not small either. i im 6'0 and a warrior isnt a bad size for me. its a great trail bike, reliable. been made for years, same thing as a raptor 350 different plastics same motor and frame.

Thanks for the replies. Well like I said I'm not too worried about top speed. I just came back from picking it up. Traded straight up. Man this quad is awesome (no i'm not selling my 250es). It has all the hop up's on it already. Aftermarket springs, shocks, nerfs, rims/tires, adj. Durablue axle, alloy front bumper, jet kit, etc.. Shifts good, no leaks, just lost compression. Hopefully just the rings/piston. Not a bad trade for a 1979 Mariner 80hp outboard that I don't even know runs.

I'll post some pics later or tomorrow. Man this warrior looks awesome to me.

Not too bad looking. Too bad it's not a Honda TRX250R, those colors would look a lot better if it was.
