when I moved I sold (each) for $50 bucks a Hoffman Condor and a Wilkerson Airlines freestyle vert bikes, becouse there was no place to ride here, both of those bikes were over $500 new and they were only a year old or just alittle over.

that's hilarious! Can't put a price on all those memories eh? :D  I was just looking down at the scar on my leg from the tail whip I tried back in 88'

You could buy a half decent trike (or something with a motor) for the price of some of these old school bmx'ers.

I still got my Old Skyway with the sweet mags. I was always told if you warped the wheels you could put them in the freezer and it would straighten them out, lol never tried it. And I still have my First generation 2-Hip "Pork" aluminum frame flatlander, I love that bike, too bad my fat ass cant ride the thing too swell anymore.

I had a GT back in the day,but my favorites were the 2 Mongoose Californians.Just like the ones in RAD.The race bmx's.
Both of mine were black with the gold rerversable rim strips.Remember them?
Those bikes came in chrome with red pads, blue pads and black pads.I think they made yellow models too.
I loved the mongooses.
I had both of mine down to 13 lbs in weight.
I never see them anymore. It would be nice to find a mint one.

Ahh those were the days.
Layback seat posts,Peregrine cranks,Gyros.
All those names bring back the memories.

there is 2 things wrong with it first the side platforms are missing (i probaly got sick of bending them back into shape)

and someone welded on it up front.. it was like this when i got it in the mid 80's

A Power Light

Schwinns very 1st beach/mountain bike (my favorite, no really:lol: , it is!) . They were going to get sued for using the name because Gary Fisher had it 1st, so this was only made in 78 & 79, this thing is worth a fourtune, I'll never get rid of it, weighs a ton at 47 lbs, has a "trick" motorcycle drum brake on back!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/huffa/klunkeronMillcreekRS.jpg

wtf?! huffa can you bust some sweet ver tricks on those?

 I have no idea how to do tricks but wish I could. Be funny though, to see a 52 year old guy doing them.

I never even pedaled the fat boy or power light, every now and then I just get the urge to win one on ebay, their realativly cheap.

The Power light was 80 bucks and I stoled that specialized job for 11.26:D , that's a 300+ dollar bicycle there but they were not real popular from what I am informed. It reminds me of a Honda motoxer frame sort of. I have a feeling that was stolen to begin with, because the dope took all the stickers off and I asked him WHY?, he just shrugged his shoulders.

The Jeremy one is pretty cool too though, I'll bet there all trashed by now.

The Schwinn Scrambler was just ready to be picked up by the garbage trucks and I pulled over in my oil truck and threw it on. It was rusted bad but as yopu can see came out really nice. Now that one I do take out on occassion, I feel cool on it

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/huffa/McGrathbikeRScloseup.jpg

Here is my Kuwahara. I got it when I was 14. I rode it about a month ago,,,,just after I taco'ed my mountain bike rim showing some neighborhood kids a 180 bunny hop.

I pumped up the tires and off I went. They all wanted to take turns riding the bike. It really needs some help, but still rode OK.

I can still do a Miami Hopper. The kids in the neighborhood have a new respect for me after I showed them my flatland tricks.

I had things called Z rims on most of my bikes. Those were the lightest and seemed to hold up pretty good. I love the look of the mags tho... escpecially the perigrines.

Heck.. now that I think of it I even had a set of wheel covers on the one diamond back (super streak) I had. remember those? :naughty:

Man what happened??????

Around here BMX was on big time!! About 1984 I raced and was having a blast for about 3 years. The parents ran the track which was donated and at some point there weren't enough volunteers and the track closed. I couldn't get a ride an hour away so I started riding dirt bikes. I also got old enough to drive so that was that.

But what about the next generation? Where did the interest go? I thought it was just the Northeast but I guess it all dropped out at the same time?

Now it seems the whole country wants to be disrespectful and act like a HOMIE!!

The degradation of society continues. I'm saving 2-5 gallon gas tanks for the 350X when it all goes down, road warriors here I come..... :naughty:

I still have my bike...crusty, rusty, and nasty, but still rides.

I soooo wish some snapped some pics of me doing a cherry picker, miami hopper, grasshopper, and the many other flatland and ramp tricks I was doing back then.

Here's my bike as it sits now. Predator frame, Scorpion forks, Redline bars, Tuf-Neck pro goose, GT laid back, Peregrine Master rims, a'mi grips...had snake-bellies on it, but they rotted. My daughter laughed at it when I pulled it out of the shed. That is till I pulled a 180 on the street in front of the house and a couple rock-walks...she parked her bike and wanted to ride mine everywhere that summer...

I have to admit that I like the newer pegs mounted to the axels. I love watching the rail grinds with them. The old Mongoose, Haro and Kuwaharas had the fork mounted pegs instead. I would never try to grind a railing that way.

I can't believe how much these bikes go for ! Trikes are a bargin towards them !!

My bro inlaw has this mountain bike that is betwen 3 and 4000 bucks, I'd never pay that much money on something that I would have to exert my own energy (pedal, pedal, pedal)to make it work!

If I knew then what I know now... maybe I would of taken care of some of those bikes back then.

I was just having this conversation with my son a while back.. (about taking care of his stuff) he goes threw a "walmart" bike about every 6 months... just beats the crap outta them.. he rides the mongoose decade every one and a while, but only in the driveway..

the chains a little rusty but it's holding up OK. Gotta go with powdercoat next time tho.. the paint scratches easily. :(

Oh,, not sure where some of those names came from (some new ones for me too) I think whoever invents the trick names it. :wondering
