I got to work today and my boss tells me the lathe guy is quitting ( I already knew that) and he told his boss that the only person he thought would be qualified and willing to take the position is me. :w00t: that is a nice pat on the back from my supervisor!!
He told me that I will know for sure by monday because there is one other guy that used to work here that they are going to offer the job to and if he turns it down it's mine for the taking.
What that means for me is I will be at the top of the pay scale as a class "A" c.n.c. machinist and a nice pay raise to go with the new title. right now I think I am considered a class "B" but they are changing the classifications at the beginning of the year.
right now I run a c.n.c. plasma cutter and I am the laser back up person and I have been training on the vertical milling machines, I also run the shear and hand plasma torch, two different punches and the band saws and a lot of other machines.
the recognition is nice but the pay raise will be nicer!
and I did not even have to apply or bid for it my boss offered it to me FIRST.
I am keeping my fingers crossed till monday
