I like it, looks pretty sweet! I'm toying around with the idea of a little 4x4 truck to save on gas, tow the bikes AND save on gas haha

It's a body lift. I'm building custom Bumpers for it, so i'm not concerned about that. Going for the rock crawler type. I'm also taking the doors off in the spring and building some tube doors for it.

I just bought an IHI RHB5 turbo for it. I'm going to install it, along with a new clutch in the next week or so. Just need to figure out what size FMU to get. I figured that would help that little 2.6L pull those 35's.

dude u kick ass!!!!!! isuzu FTW!!!!!!!!! im trying to locate a isuzu pickup 4x4. i had one before and wish i would have never sold it. btw the IHI wont fit unless u have a custom manifold made. i was running a isuzu impulse rs IHI RHB5 on my geo storm and dit will only boost to 7 to 8 lbs of boost. try getting a turbo from a early model isuzu impulse JI. there A DIRECT bolt on. one other thing. be caful turning up the boost. u will fry *Edited**Edited* pistons unless *Edited**Edited* running low compression forged pistons. i have researched isuzu through and through. i choose isuzu over any other type of vehical. ther like hondas, really dependable.

check out the site "independent4x.com" i think thats it. i used to go off roading with the owner and he specailizes in Isuzu's. he has a trooper with a dana 60 rear 14 bolt from a chezy truck and a 350.:D

Derrick you need to get 4.88 gears at least for that size tire. you should do a solid axle swap put a 79-85 toyota truck front axle under it. i have a bunch for sale .;)

dont bother with the turbo do the gears swap 1st. that will put less strain on the drivetrian.

not only that but a turbo doesnt have power untill *Edited**Edited* rpms climb. id go with a supercharger, that way u will have power right there. but if u use big tires and some sort of induction without changing the rear end it will just give up under a load. strip out the spider gears.

It's my understanding that turbos work effeceintly against a load. Much like the 6000lb turbo deisel trucks. Those 35's certainly put a load on the drivetrain. I'm also thinking that this is the best choice for fuel milage. The turbo would really only be working when needed to get the truck rolling, so it shouldn't effect milage much.
I don't want to install rearend gears because the truck was only rated at 18mpg and mine gets 25mpg (i'm guessing because of the tires). So I figured Turbo is the way to go.
I'm using a really small turbo with no intercooler, so turbo lag should be minimal.

just remember that lil turbo pushes a car that is like 1500-2000 lbs lighter. if there is boost lag upgrade the turbo with a t-bird compressor housing and turbine.thats the same turbo i was running and *Edited**Edited* i used it my car got 38mpg. when i installed it i only got 28mpg. of course i had to do injectors and fuel pump plus a haltech ECU. u may also need that. a haltech ECU will make a *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* load of trouble easier but u must have the proper setttings and a good laptop.

lower gears will increase fuel economy... and unlike turbo diesels... turbocharged gasoline motors will detonate hard when dealing with high loads and pump fuel.... the stock pistons wont last long if the head gaskets dont fail first.....good luck...

i second what cr480 said do the gear swap you get better milage. you dont have to mash it to the floor all the time to get moving. if you have a 4 cylinder they are known for head gasket problems. cracked heads also.

I don't believe a gear swap will increase milage. It may help initial acceleration but highway driving will raise rpms and use more fuel.

Besides the truck is equipped with 4.56 gears already and the 5.30's are all but impossible to find for it.

believe us it does increase mileage your not lugging the motor so much when your driving. it's proven fact. no offense.

i put the 5.29 gears in my toyota truck and it made a big differnce from the 4.10's that were stock. i had 35" mud terrians. inceased in mileage and better acceleration. was exactly like having a stock truck with the little puny tires:lol:
