I drive a 1988 Toyota pickup that I bought nine years ago for $150.00. It was wrecked and my son put another hood and fender on it. It now has 250,000 miles on it. Other than tires, gas, and oil, I've only spent about $50.00 in repairs.

have an 84 sitting out behind my shed. havn't ran it in a long while, but it will jump right off, even with the 3 year old gas, those things are just unstoppable.

I'm on my 2nd Toyota. I owned a 1997 4Runner for 8 years and now have a 2005 Sequoia Ltd. The 4Runner was an awsome truck. I only put tires, 2 sets of brakes and a muffler...(and a timing belt when due) on it. It was a great truck. I traded it in on the Sequoia with 175,000 miles and they still gave me $5000 for it. I was impressed! The Sequoia is pretty "Mac Daddy", but only gets 14.3mpg....on average...

94 V6 XRTRA cab SR5 33" tires and a 5" lift. 2nd one I ever owned, I love em!!

Only problems on the older models is that if the underneath is rusty, you'll lose all your lines. And the fuel pumps go around 200K and all that crap snaps off. I also find that 1st gear pops out on higher mileage trannys.

They are allot more money than they use to be, but so isn't everything else.... They hold there value pretty darn well too!

Got over 470 thousand on my dads, and only 177 on mine. We got a 20 bet seeing if I can beat him! bahahaha

i have a 1986 toyota dually (ex totalled camper)

a 1995 22re 5speed 4x4 truck i got for $200 with bad engine and a 1985 22re solid axle 4runner with 5"lift 33" tires and a welded rear end. it works awesome for rock crawlings with the rear that way

i used to have a 1982 4x4 5" lift and 35" tires with 5.29 gears in the axles and a spool in the back and detriot locker in the front. i miss that truck:( the frame got to rusted and snapped at the rock craw exhibition at the Carlisle PA truck show. i broke two front birfield joints that day also and caved in the drivers door.

i also have 75 trucks for parts that i sell stuff from on ebay under user name "toyota_parts_dude" trucks from 1979-94

I have a 2005 Tundra Double Cab SR5 4x4. I love it. People say Toyotas (atleast the older ones) are not work trucks but I hauled 4 200lb plus guys and 4 quads (1 in the bed and 3 on the trailer) and had no problems with it. Up hills I just stomped it down and it kept gaining speed. Gettin it to stop in a jiffy was a different story! I get about 16mpg and would love to get a new Crew Max Ltd but I have a wedding I need to save money for:(

What's the gas mileage on the v6 models? I might be getting the 4 runner because it has room and it's hard to find an extra cab Tacoma for a good price. I just don't want a gas hogg lol

I drive a 1995 (first production year) Tacoma 2.7L 4-cyl, stick with 156K. Runs like a top, but the rear diff is starting to rust through.
My wife has a 2006 4Runner with the V6. This also serves as our "tent" at TF.
Oddly enough, the 4 and 6 cylinder both get about 21 mpg.

My 4Runner used to get about 17-18MPG. I called the "STOMP AND STEER" It was grossly underpowered with the V6 and a trialer. However, I would stomp it to the floor, rev the crap out of it and keep up the momentum. I give it credit. It still ran, and drove perftecly with all of the abuse. Cheers to Toyota!
