i know nothing about atvs and need steering in the right direction, i need somethingv to use 10 times a year when my road washes out, need to be able to haul a bale of hay and a full size adult thru the mud

right now i am looking at a 1986 honda 200s trike , supposedly runs good $450

vs a 1986 honda trx 125 quad, one owner, runs good, automatic, elec and pull start and reverse $900

what i need to know before i buy is if there is some advantage to having a trike for general farm type work? i realize this is a trike site but it looks like some peope have both, i was thinkng a trike may be lighter and easier to get unstuck from the mud?

That 200 will carry you a little better then the TRX.

The 200 is real easy to get unstuck, the thing is so light you just get off, pick it up and move it.

From experience, the little 200s will get through the mudd better...........their little tanks!

Welcome to the boards! :welcome:

Hey I think you emailed me on the 200S. look under the post how much have you spent on a non sport trike, its under the open forum. I think the pics on there are the same ones I sent you. Maybe someone here will chime in if they think the 200S in the pic is worth $450. Jim

I love the 200s's. I would go for it. Its half the price and almost double the power. No question for me.

Exactly, why pay more for less? The 200 would be your best bet, especially since that 125 wasn't really designed to be pulling much more than a rider.

also the 86 200s's are rare

I'd say it's worth the $450, if it were me, I'd try to get you down to $400, but that's just 'cause I'm cheap. :D

Welcome to 3 Wheeler World Clvasko!

Sounds like they would both be a good choice. Without taking price into consideration I would be leaning toward the 4-wheeler.

The quad gives you electric start and reverse, both very handy and unlike other quads it will turn just as well as the trike (probably better in mud). The biggest downsides with trx125 that I have found is that it's small in size (I am 6"2") and slow. Size wise it's not too bad unless you plan on a longer ride. Power wise it's good, not as much as the 200 but still good, it just doesn't have much of a top speed. I have owned 2 Honda 200s’s and have a fare amount of seat time on a friend’s trx125, I have more fun on the 200s but I have been impressed at what the “little” 125 can do.

If you or someone else will use the ATV for "fun" (more sporty riding) then the 200s is a better choice.

But like I said before I think both will work well for what you want, just make sure they have good meaty tires.
