Ok I picked up the truck for a good price and its in good shape, want to know how hard it would be to swap my 300 six out for a 302, any input is helpful. BTW, my buddy has a 302 with the wiring harness/ computer out of another f150, hence the gears turning in my head.

Me personally..I wouldn't swap the motor that straight six will last though anything, trust me my buddy has had a few, and has never blown a motor..everything esle goes before it..axles, shocks, driveshafts. He does huge burnouts, with wheel hop or not, winds out the gears, and contastlly dogs the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* out of them.

He's on his second ford zx2, and will be on he's 3rd tranny between the both of them, and he's had countless other cars and none last though his abuse (and also his urge to trade for something esle every few months) as much as a 300. I personally like one matched to a 5-spd, very easy to shift, has a ton of torqure. Doubling that of the hp almost.

My truck blows it away in everything (I lay posi's..he only does one wheel peel, and I've jsut recently got to the point where I can lay them as long as his ok ones. there freaking looooooooooonnnnnnnnggggg and wavy too.) but I got a 98 f150 5.4 with 3.55 gears and lsd..and my truck wieghs in at 4100 pounds

dont wast your time or money. the 300 st6 is smaller but far superior. go with a 5sp manual and stay far away from the slushbox auto/od. all inline engins are better than v's and put much less stress on the crank. the 300 is used in lots of heavly abused equipment and is a great engin with lots of tork.

Yeah I realize they are a better engine as far as tolerence for abuse and longevity and tourque are concerned but I cant really find any performance mods out there, I just wanna make this thing scream.

right.... a 300 might run forever but it will run so so for ever

if you were just going to throw in a stock 302 id say not to wast your time

but if your building a motor i say do it

Exactly I might go with a 351 I can get one of those but Im wonderin if the 302 computer and harness will work. As far as performance Im going with bored thirty over, decent cam headers with true dual exhust, and probably stage three hypertech, bigger injectors k&n etc...etc...

as far as the harness goes, as long as you go mass air youll be ok as far as mods

if you use speed density you will be limited as to what you can do

i would just get the ford racing mass air convertion ( made for hot rods and things like your doing )

its not cheap but since when are these things ever cheap

go with the 6!!! clifford makes a bolt on kit that they say will give you 425 ft pounds, then get a cam from comp. or lunati and you will have a 302 killer.

I have a 95 f-150 with a 351 windsor. Its a 4x4 extended cab. I bought it totaled. It was a one owner with low mileage. The 351 gets poor mileage compared to the 300. Sure the v-8 is faster but I think the six is just as tough.
