few comp questions?

how do I go about displaying my computer screen on my tv? what kind of cables are needed and what kind of programs? dont get all crazy with me cuz im not super comp lit as some of you guys, also how do I do the dual monitor? all this would be off my HP laptop if possible

Funny you should ask.

I spent the last several days dicking around with my arcade cabinet and trying to get the PC to output to a TV.

It all depends on your hardware on the PC and TV. If you have s-video out on the PC and an input for s-video in on the TV, it's a piece of cake. Plug a cable into each and go into the display settings on your PC and set it to dualhead. If you have an ATI or Nvidia video card, they have controls in advanced settings. Many times windows doesn't show a dualhead when it's only s-video out. If it has another vga or dvi out, then windows will pick it up and allow you to select it.

Heads up before you do it, TVs resolution is 640x480 and the refresh rate may not be 60 when you go that low. You'll get screen flicker on the TV. Another thing is the icons on your desktop will be unreadable at 800x600 or 640x480. If you just want to shoot a video over to the TV that will work, but on a TV you will not be able to view the desktop like it's your PC.

I had a TV with RF/Coax in and that's all. I used an RF Modulator from RadioShack. It worked fine but the quality of the display was poo. I scrapped the idea of using the TV for a display in my cabinet and have gutted a 21" PC monitor for the project.

yea pretty much jsut porn....lol!! I have the ATI card in mine and S video hookup, my tv is a magnovox big screen HD tv so maybe that will help thanx I will hit you up if I need anything, oh and how much will a 10ft s cable cost? out my bunghole?

You can get 12' of s video cable at radioshack for around 12.00, its not really expensive at all.
