ok this is the dilly... I'm workin over my tecate engine. havin it punched out polished, painted and all that junk, new seals, clutch, springs, everything... I have this idea and im goin make it work. I'm going to pick up a mojave frame and put the tecate engine in it. Im getting the frame around monday so this is a done deal.

Now the question is, has anyone ever done this before and how hard is it to do.

No matter what im going to do this. Im just wondering how hard of a process is it going to be?? I can't wait to have a fun to ride quad like the mojave with the kickin white knuckle power of a tuned tecate!!!!!!! immmm sikedddddd babyyyy. i just hope it works lol

Ive heard of this being done successfully with a KX motor, but I dont know what all was involved. Id strongly suggest going with a KX motor over a Tecate motor anyways unless its physically much more difficult. Its going to be a lot easier to get parts for.

im using the tecate engine because thats what i have. lol and i also have a mojave. I love the way that a mojave scoots and boggies in the woods with its stock engine, so i figure give it a 2 stroke engine that can and has eatin a stock banshee, then this sucker should fricken vip. Believe it or not but im not having any problems finding parts, it just takes and extra day or two to get them ordered. but no big problem

Oops my mistake. I had misread your post, and thought you had a Tecate, and were going to get another motor for this project. Makes sense if youve got the engine already.

... I'm not sure on this, but isn't the output shaft on the wrong side for a Mojave frame/rear sprocket?

Do you have any motor parts from the mojave that you would want to sell?
Thanks, Andrew

Dont worry about internal engine parts. The KX and Tecate are pretty much the same engine.

A better choice would be the latest year model KX250 you could find if you didn't have your motor already. Exhaust Pipe will be a problem. The countershaft question is a good one but if you look at the buykawasaki.com parts diagrams the mojave and tecate have the chain on the same side.

Back in the day right prior to the release of the Tecate-4, Team Green ran KXT powered Mojaves. They called them Mo-Cats.

Good luck and post pics!
