soft no more, at least for parts.
There has not been a decent 250R on ebay since OC spotted the one that was mis listed. Man am I pissed I missed that one. I even emailed the buyer and offered $500 more than what he just paid....he didn't even reply..lol

One of the others that haunts me is edog missing that short track kit

Back to these parts...It will make me reconsider what I do with SOME of my stuff if I ever decide to sell someday. My 1986 250r has some insane long discontinued bolts ons....... ALL the following NOS.....NOS swingarm, handlebars, front wheel and "PRO VECTOR" spelled out tire, NOS HA2 axle , skid plate, brake line, calipers, rear grab, muffler, and much more I am forgetting. probably $2500-3000 in those parts in a market high that I could replace with REAL nice stuff for $500 shopping smart and waiting, buying cheap BIN's etc. I will probably pick up cheap used replacements over the long haul when price lows on parts are evident. I would proabably offer it up first with all the goodies but would have to get a those prices factored in to the final sale price on top of a high average price for a mint R.

OC, I am scratching my head also.... I still think a mint 86 250R will pull $6000k.
I am not convinced on these bids. The parts are really nice but if you are restoring an 85 250R, since the bike is all apart already, wouldn't you repaint the swingarm. The 2 side pro link stickers are still available........I am very leary, although I do like the seller and have bought alot of parts from him. Maybe there is somebody in the market right now looking for a mint restore..?????
I might just put my near mint 85 on ebay.......

No doubt you can make used parts look very nice but to the purist there is nothing better than perfect or new honda factory paint or finish....I think that gold is pretty hard to match spot on as well. So thats when the prices get loopy.

Come on now....$357 for a used rear brake setup for an 85 250R
$304 for a used rear shock??? I can buy them NOS all day long for $175
$351 for the seat........thats pricey, but understandable
$ 253 for the used Dunlop tires and rims

Edog, while I agree this is the season for selling, there is some serious shill bidding going on here. Just 4 days ago a NOS rear carrier for a 1985 250r went for $99. Now we have a used one for $124 already, and the same bidder on all these......

Watch for a bunch of similar items come up with Buy it Now's, which you rarely see from these sellers, at more reasonable but still high prices....and people jump all over them
Fun to watch ...

thats just the way of ebay. One week something can go for $50 and the next week the same item not as nice will go for $300, all about who needs it and who sees it.

These Trike parts are going to continue to be pricey. Mainly the close to mint parts that are discontinued from the manufacter.

also need to remember that this website and a couple like it is probably only 20-35% of the people that love and enjoy trikes and love riding there trikes. A lot of people will see a part they want and will pay huge $$ if they want it bad enough

I can understand nice parts for perfect restores costing money but I'll tell you, one of my goals is to update my rider with newer parts.

First up, complete 450r rear end, swinger, chain slider, axle, caliper, linkage. All bolts up with almost no mods.

I'd say that almost 60% of a atc250r can be replaced with readily availible quad parts

Thats how I'm beating the gougers.

From the get go , this was a very creative way to boost prices on 250R parts. I will post the link for the used exhaust for $720...LMFAO. NOS wouldn't even bring $500.
They had a good scheme ,they just took it to far.Did you guys notice all the similar parts pop up from time to time with buy it now prices, they didn't last long. Not when your looking at a swingarm for $865..lol
I have gotten alot of emails from customers asking me what the hell is going on... How do you explain an $865 swingarm , a $720 exhaust, a $350 shock etc, etc.....Like I said they got a few newbies and truly entertained me for the weekend.:w00t:
