I attempt to. I have some crappy Ibanez that always breaks the high-E string and leaves me playing 5-string, running it through a Crybaby "Original" Wah, and into a turd of an amp, a Peavey Rage 15. Anyone with lots of skills, I need tips on soloing. :beer

I used to play a lot, but I've forgotten more than I remember. I taught myself tab and bought a few Metallica books in the early 90's, but I never stuck with it for more than a few months out of each year since then. I'm not a lead person, but finger picking melodies and bashing powerchords aren't strange exercises for me.

I can play Metallica, Seether, Staind, some Megadeath, COC, Soundgarden, Eagles, etc.... and then a little country.....but I stopped playin Skynyrd altogether since you can't walk in a bar with a band without hearing Skynyrd run into the ground.

I've used Ibanez, Washburn, Gibson, Epiphone, and several more brands of guitar
....Dean 5-string basses, and even Fender acoustic-electric mandolins(Copperhead Road baby).

I play as well, hey man on that Ibanez, are you using really light gage strings? could always try going up I guess hard to say though. I got an Ibanez 7 string and I love it, its nice to be able to throw in the low notes if you dont have a bass player

I've also got an ovation 12 string Glenn Cambell edition, a pretty nice classical, fat strat, and a bunch of other no name acoustics, my real passion lately has been with the mandolin and as of recently the 5 string banjo

Here's my F-5 style Hondo, I just installed a Fishman pickup into last week it sounds pretty decent

sorry bout all the pictures

Hey man as far as soloing, I was the same way. what worked for me was just finding a song that had some good distinguishable licks to it, and get really good at playing that. then, when your comfortable with it, just start tweaking things and finding new notes in the same scale, at some point its easier to see were everything goes together for each key and scale and you get more confortable doing it.

the rest of you guys post up some pics so I'm not the only one doing it haha

I play a bit. Got an esp with flatwounds on it and I love playing bass, singing and I like to tickle the ivorys sometimes. Me and a buddy jam at least once a week. I would go crazy without musical instruments. It's one of my big passions in life outside of trikes. It seems like all my cash goes to 3 wheelers or musical gear. But hey, you can't take it with you.:w00t:

That's some pretty awesome stuff Doug. Don't play guitar myself but played drums in a death metal band for a few years, kind of lost interest after a while. Hadn't played in years until about a week ago. Man, I sucked....

I found out after high school that I had a relative that worked in the music industry, and I started getting into the guitar. I messed around for years with the guitar, but never got to the point that I could do much. I would sit for hours doing scales to get my finger coordination up, and I learned a little finger picking that was fun. Most of my time was involved with working around guitar amplifiers, so all I really needed to do was be able to make some noise. I got into "hot-roddin'" amplifiers and needed to hear the changes in tone.

I can still be mesmerized by a good guitar player, either country, rock, jazz, classical, etc. One of my favorites that I had seen back then was Steve Morse. I was at a convention where him, Sterling Ball (Ernie's son), Eddie Van Halen, and someone else I can't remember. Anyhoooo, they were having a solo duel, and Eddie was up after Steve, and after one solo, Eddie looked over and said "Dude, play some more of that. That's freakin' cool as shyte". :w00t:

Dammit, that's some HOT stuff you have on that MySpace!!!

You might have a sharp sopt on either your to nut or bridge, on your e stirng file it down a little to take an edge off of it. If you don't have any files use a butter knife it works.
When it comes to soloing study the penotonic scale. find the key that your in and then go threw the scale. it's a good start to give you a feel for soloing.
