wonder why they sold them then?

Prob because they could make way more then it cost them to produce more. With the way that collector cars go at those auctions Im sure they made some good cash. Those cars are nice looking

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/search/carlist.aspx check out lot 665 and 665.1

Went for $150,000 and for charity. Surprises me because chartiy cars usually go higher then they would if it wasnt a charity auction. They were only GT's also. Im sure they made money dont those things go for like 30K? I doubt they had 90k wrapped up in modes between the 2? Not to mention, Im sure Ford may have gave them the cars because what better way to promote a car then through a movie and the shows? They might have all of the episodes taped aready and didnt know if it would catch on so they sold them now. I dont know though im just talking out my arse

The "hero" KITT is built off a black Mustang GT with 4.6 Liter and was upfitted with a Ford Racing Whipple Super-charger to make 400 horsepower. Additional performance elements include a 6-piston Brembro Brakes, FR3 Handling Pack, High Flow Ford Racing X-Pipe and Ford Racing Mufflers with stainless tips. The exterior sports the GT500 KR fiberglass hood with KITT heartbeat light installed, Shelby GT500 front and rear bumper covers, matte black LeMans stripes, matte finish Rocker Panel, GT500 KR rear spoilers and 20" forged aluminum wheel (8 1/2" front, 10" Rear). The KITT interior has been completely renovated with props that display KITT's supercar capabilities. All proceeds from the sale of these cars will be donated to Salute To Education giving the winning bidder an opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause while owning a pair of truly unique vehicles.
