I got a couple of older Skidoo Elans the other day. They have been sitting for several years. One of them has a problem with the starter, It won't catch sometimes. What could cause that?

Is the pull start slipping when you pull it? If so then more than likely it is a stripped pulley cup.( the dick thing with all the notches in it). If that is not the problem, it could be that the pull start could have broken paws.

Or if we are talking about electric starting the sled then one of your gears could be bad.

So just check the pulley cup and the pull start paws because the pully cups always go on the old bombers.
