Ok, Im putting a triz250 engine in an 85 lt230s frame. It seems to fit well. Does anybody have any advice when setting this up? I've seen a thread where someone suggested gusstting the frame. Is there any pit falls to look out for when putting a stronger engine in these frames? Or any other advice that would be helpful.
Thanks

The main pitfall will be how tiny the frame is. It'll be tippy, really wheelie-prone, and won't turn for ****.

Agreed.
Are you sure this is a swap you want to get into? That is NOT a good combination.

The 230 frame has horrible geometry! The frame is weak as helll too so if you do it you 100% need to gusset.

dude put it in a blaster keep it yamaha.used blasters sell for cheap.they probably have a better frame than the old 230.what ever you do make it longer and wider for either of these bikes they are both short and tippy stock now your gonna put in a motor that has twice the power .maybe see if lt250 quadracer parts fit on the 230 like swingarm,axle,a-arms.but if your gonna do that u might as well get a lt250 they are good quads lol.

I agree. By the time you complete this "conversion" you could have bought a sport quad like a LT250 or Blaster. At least a Blaster frame can handle it way better that that LT frame.

Thanks for the info guys. I figured I'd use the 230 cause It's a roller with a blown bottom end(got it with the top end taken apart). Not only that but I have a nice 85 Z engine sittin in the garage. Don't know maybe I'll look for a lt250 or blaster roller thats cheap. Any body in SoCal got one?
Again thanks
