Your best bet is to not respond to that retard and he'll go away.
Tell him to explain my brothers early 70's 4 door Impala with a stock bottom-end350 pulling the front wheels 14 inches off the line.

On another note run 3.73 or 4.10 gears with that AOD and you'll be fine

why not keep the 460? becouse its like fitting the 460 in a metro, there isnt a whole bunch of room to make it fit in there, plus I have no need to have such a big motor, this car weighs over 5000 lbs it isnt going to win any races, unless you drop it out of a plan....low and slow is the way I ride.

Hell yeah, drop a 6.0 diesel in it. That would be so very cool.

I'd say my parkwood wagon is just as heavy if not heavier than your lincoln and it came from GM with a 283 so a built 302 or 351 should be more than enough.

That guy claims to know everything, but in reality knows nothing.

Just about any engine will work in your car and move it just fine. The amount of power that's required is really small compared to what engines put out as their maximum rating.

I'd be surprised if the car required more than 75hp to cruise @ 65mph.

Oh, at any rate, calculate what the torque is at the rear wheels with his stock 460 in any given gear. Forget about losses for this comparison, it doesn't matter.

Now, let's just say for shits and giggles that the 460 put out 300ft/lb of torque at 1500 RPM (totally imaginary numbers). Let's also say it has a 3.00:1 rear end gear(or ratio if you prefer). Let's also say that transmission in 1st gear is a 3.00:1 ratio.

So, torque at the rear wheels in 1st gear would be, 300x3x3 = 2700lbs of torque to get the car rolling.

Now, let's just say that you put in a "wimpy" 302 with a measly 200 ft/lb of torque at 1500 RPM. (that's 33% less torque than the imaginary 460). Since you are using a lower output engine you also decide to increase the rear end gear ratio to 4.33:1.

Now let's see what you have for torque at the rear wheels to get the car moving...

200x4.33x3 = 2598lbs of torque...

Imagine that...

He can take his "460, 430 minimum" and shove up straight up his ass :)

What he said. ^^^^^^

I just took a minute to skim though what that ass whipe claims to be true. What a freaking tard. I agree, it is all in the gearing. Even if you have big block power, if it is not gear properly, it will move like a turd any way. A good power plant with the proper gearing is all you need.

ok ive had multiple ford trucks and one was a heavy duty f-250 with a carberated 302 (2 barrel at that) i was a dairy farmer at the time and i could tow a trailer with 14 round bales no problem. i mean there was a load but thats 7 tons of weight plus a ton on the box from 2 more bales! now my 460 obiously had more power but the truck with the 200hp 2 barrel 302 weighed more than your car so i say go for it and other forums sometimes prove to be full of a$$holes who just try to make themselves look good. shake em off and continue making your kik *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* car!!

just to stur things up...lol

i built a mild 460 and have it in a 6000 pound lifted bronco

now...we all know that 80s and 90s broncos came with 302 and 351 motors...they all will get the job done but i can tell you first hand that you can't buld a 302 to put out big block torque off idle (within reason)

my mild 460 has 425hp but it has just over 500lb ft tq and it gets me 11mpg...about the same milage a 302 gets(in a bronco) but my bronco runns like my mustang

like i said i dont care what you do, a 300 straight 6 would be fine too...... just depends on what your looking for and it seems its not as big of a deal to you

edit......just some info...the small block that came out of my lifted bronco only gave me 6-7 mpg , same gears and tires as now... it had to work to hard to move the heavy pig...lol

I see what your saying swingin but on those beasts you have to contend with extra driveline drag and heavy rolling mass as well, this car will have either a rebuilt C4 (I have) or a regular low mileage AOD (have also). I dont think it will have any problem moving it down the road, the fact of the matter is this clown obviously thinks I dont know what im talking about OR doing, like im never going to finish something.

i laughed at this post "
I've said it before, and I'll say it again... most of the members on this board reject customization. They would rather their sister be a hooker than cut up their Lincoln. Still they find the need to read all the articles in the CUSTOMIZING section. So don't be discouraged by the flaming. You could finish your project, have it look awesome, get over 20 mpg, win awards, be super quick, last over 100,000 miles, and people will STILL find something to flame about.
There are a few of us that would like to see you do it. Keep us posted with the swap, and post pics as you go!" by Rick Crunelle. It just seems everyone is a dick on that forum, im not really into lincolns, there nice but theres no market for them around here, i cant say i have seen one done up in my life, so its really not my speciality.
