The Ultimate Debate For The Ultimate Mc/atv

ok i've heard it too many times 2wheels vs. 3wheels vs. 4wheels vs. 6wheels , 2 stroke vs. 4 stroke, Honda vs. Yamaha vs. Kawasaki vs. Suzuki vs. Cannondale vs. KTM vs. ect, Utility vs. sport, Lets get it all out. if you had one choice and ONE choice only what do you think is the BEST ALL AROUND machine? this would be something that was not particulary the best at any one thing but it could adapt to all situations. this would be the machine that you would take anywere. like for example dunes,woods,tracks,hills,snow,roads,creeks,mud,tig ht trails wide open spaces, light work, hunting, to a distant planet for exploration,back in the past,in the mad max future, it would have to be good on gas, very reliable, be able to outrun certain impending doom, easy to maintain and work on. this would be the ultimate MC/ATV. to quote the HIGHLANDER..."there can be only one"

Being bike-atv related..... I'd go with the Kawasaki Prarie.... have a friend with one and it's pretty impressive for a sport/utility. But it would be hard to give up the 350X for a golf cart.

As much as I love my 250R and 69 Bronco, I cant choose iether of them as the ultimate vehicle.. Having no personal experience with Hummers or Unimogs, XR dirt bikes, or military tanks, I cant choose them iether. I have to go with the good ol VW baja bug as the ultimate all-around go-anywhere do-anything easy to work on dependable vehicle. :)

If I ever get a chance to, I will! I rode a CR125 for the first time this past weekend, first time on 2 wheels too! It was fun! I hope to be buyin an old YZ 80 soon so I can teach myself to ride on two. :)

I would take some type of 4X4 4 stroke automatic transmission quad. Something small, like 325 polaris, I would much rather have the 700 Poolaris though, but matinence and work isnt as easy.

and as much as i love the CRF450 I have a hard time seeing how a pure MX bike would be able to handle work and snow

I know I'm a die hard but I'd stick with my 400ex. It's at least reliable and with simple add ons like a hitch and chains or studs for winter it will get you around about everywere. I knew a guy that used his 84 250R for his landscaping company. He would drag out peoples yards with it. It was kinda cool. As kids we all thought he was the coolest guy in town.

Oldschoolin, its funny you should mention that. Kind of along the same lines, back in the late 80s, Our high school baseball coach drug the infield with an '85 ATC250R. We thought THAT was awesome! For some reason, he wouldn't let any of us drag the field with it.... :-D


I have to agree with MRATC.... to fit in his MC/ATV category, a moto-x bike cannot be it. You just cant do any work with an MX bike. :shock:

I'd have to vote for a 4 stroke sport 4-wheeler with reverse. Then you could add some kind of rear rack and a trailer hitch and your set for work and for serious play.

I actually think my 500X will be the ultimate all around machine. Will have the ground clearence and power for mud, and work. The Suspension and chassis design for motocross, and still be able to cruise around when you don't want to be going balls to the wall.

:smokin My '85 250 sx gets my vote! Talk about a work horse. I
use it spring and fall to pull 25 gal.sprayer for yard,also use it to
pull yard sweeper when I don't mow often enough.As for reliability
I personally have seen it roll down 3 hills, once still running when I
got to it. Other times flipped it over started right up.The thing just
keeps running :!: Have had it at Badlands 3 times only let me
down once (broke front axle) :evil:
Lots of power, reverse(a must for a work machine)automatic
trans. great for trails, hillclimbing,mud,snow etc.
The electric start is an added bonus ;)

[ATC crazy]

The ultimate riding machine would be the '03 Honda Rubicon or the '03 Yamaha Gizzly. I wouldn't get a dirtbike b/c you can't carry anything big on them, go up steep muddy hills, through deep mud or snow as well as a 4x4.
