Well finally after one year of gathering parts for my 350x I am able to start putting it together. I already sandblasted primed and painted the frame and swing arm I have everything else primed just waiting for paint. As for the motor I will be using a brand-new 350x crate engine I would like to polish the side covers on it but that takes a lot of work and I still have to polish the triple trees forks skid plate and a couple more little things. Here are a couple pictures of my progress the frame is a lot darker than it looks in the pitcher. If you have any idea, thoughts or suggestion please tell me I would like to hear your opinion thanks Andrew

Thanks for all the compliments I really appreciate them. The color of the paint is a metallic green I believe it's the same green that Jaguar uses on their cars as for the plastics I will be running all black. And here is a little progress that took me two days to get it the way I like it still have to polished Andrew

Well it's been a while since I updated this project. not much has changed just got the engine in and the swingarm mounted. I am hoping to find a good rear brake rotor hub soon so I can start putting the rear end together and mount mine new rims and tires :naughty: . As of right now I'm in the pain staking process of sanding and polishing most of the aluminum parts  . So that's it for now and I hope to hear some of your thoughts and suggestions and I will keep you guys updated as I go thanks Andrew

You need to learn how to take better pics. It is a must with such a nice looking project.

Goat the reason for the stock card is because I wasn't sure what other carbs would fit except the 400ex which I didn't think would be all that better also I got the new 350x carb very cheap:naughty: Edog I will try my hardest next time I take :pics: so they will be nice and clear for you:lol:

Sneaky carb thief, no wonder that box you shipped me was a little lite. The thirtyseven mm fcr of the 250 dirtbike fits all you need is a small piece of hose to run the stock airbox system.

I'm quite curious about this project of yours.

That's a great looking build. I see that the steering stop guard has a crack in it...so does mine! I thought about having a stainless one fabricated because that guard is not made too well. Where did you get the plastic ring that goes in the brakeline line guide? I thought the ring was discontinued....yours look new.

start big, go small, remove 4 hours of your life. And you end up with something as sexy as that.

andnuaa
11-09-2008, 02:09 PM
lol Goat it takes a little bit longer than 4 hours. SeaBass8 as for my steps I glass bead the part with real fine beads then I start with 120 grit sandpaper To get all of the deep scratches out of the parts and than i work my way up to 220,400,600,1200,2200 make sure you use wet sandpaper. After that I use this kit I got at Harbor freight I use the black compound than the brown and then white and then when I'm done with that I put the chrome polish on the part and use one of the buffing wheels and the kit to give it that shine. And thanks for all of the complements I really do appreciate them

Here is a little update of what I have done this week to the 350. I got the handlebars mounted and most of the controls. I also did some polishing and I finally got the holes drilled out of the front fender and mounted it. My next task will be the front forks so can anyone point me in the right direction to find new fork seals and what kind of fork oil should I use I would really appreciate the help. andnuaa
11-16-2008, 02:56 AM
First I want to thank everybody for all the compliments I do appreciate them. Brad200X as for the color I was just going by what the paint guy told me when I bought it he might have not known what he was talking about who knows:wondering . AJZ_200X I will get more :pics: up when I put my front forks on which I still need to sand and polished so it might be a little while. And 350Kris for the switches I believe they might be off another model because they didn't have the two wires for the speedometer to plug-in to like the original ones have. And if someone can help me out and tell me where can I get fork seals and what kind of fork oil should I use. Thanks again for all the compliments:beer

I personaly love and use the Leak Proof Pro-Moly Leak Proof Fork Seals from dennis kirk. they are only 27$ but i have never had one leak on me if correctly instaled. as for the oil, i use valvoline transmision fluid and that seems to work great. but what ever works for you

Vealmonkey
11-16-2008, 03:43 AM
Your fork oil really depends on your riding style. Have you looked into progressive fork springs for the front end. I've been seriously thinking about a set for my 350x when I decide to do the front forks. I really like running them in my street bikes. If you like your forks to return to thier normal stance very fast use a light fork oil. If you like your forks to return a little slower to their normal stance and not "top out" so much use a medium weight fork oil and if you like your fork returns dampened nice and slow use a heavy fork oil. And some of the fork oil bottles I've seen say "light", "medium" and "heavy" right on the bottle. I like a more medium to heavy fork oil myself but my 350x is mainly a trail bike and I don't need lightning fast fork movement.

andnuaa
11-16-2008, 02:09 PM
Vealmonkey I have kind of looked at the progressive fork springs but wasn't sure how much better they are compared to the original ones and I didn't want to just spend the money on fork springs and not be happy with them so if anybody has them installed in their 350 how do you like them compare to the original ones?

Something doesn't look right with that caliper braket? Is it for a 350x?

andnuaa
03-14-2009, 12:49 AM
Erics350x yes that is the correct caliper braket it probably doesn't look right because the caliper and the extender that holds the bracket to the swing arm is not on it yet. Anyways I picked up a couple more goodies for the 350 a nos front rim and three front fork stabilizers and a rubber protector for the kick starter . Hopefully I'll have some update pictures in the next week or two

Will here is a long overdue update on this project. Thanks to GKING a member here on the board who does fantastic work and taking the time and polishing some parts I sent to him I can now start rolling forward to completing this bike. Tomorrow I will be finishing up my fully rebuilt rear shock putting my front forks legs back together as well and hooking up the oil cooler & lines to the engine. So I will have pictures for you tomorrow on my progress

Andrew

Here's an update for you guys got the shock all done and somewhat installed on the bike. I'm running a brand-new progressive rear spring which I will finish adjusting after I rebuilt the front forks and install them. So don't be afraid tell me what you guys think

Here's another update on my project. I got the front forks all rebuilt and installed on the bike. My next task is to paint the front hub installed the new bearings and seals and mount my tire to the rim then I'll be able to roll it out of the garage and take better pictures since the lighting in the garage isn't that great. So tell me what you think and thanks again for all the compliments

Sick!! Where does the fork brace actually mount? what color are you doing the tank and decals? If you want to divulge it. I have been trying to come up with a unique color scheme for my future build. Its hard to find something that hasnt been done alot, and still looks sick!!

The fork brace mount to the upper fork legs right now it's just above them. I haven't really decided yet about the tank and I probably won't run any decals. You should go with an orange and white color scheme with polished aluminum parts. I think that would look sharp And plus you don't see too many 350's like that. if I ever build another 350 I will definitely go that way

If I were you I would definitely go with the orange, white and black. I think it would be very unique and something you don't see everyday on a 350x

Okay not much of an update but it's something. I got my side covers back from Gking here on the board and once again he does fantastic work. So I should have these installed pretty soon but first I have to order some seal. That's it for now and when I make some more progress I'll let you guys know

WOW that is a pretty bike. I have been away from the site for a while, I will have to keep checking this to see this complete..

And with a trike that nice, you don't get to ride it offroad, ever again. Trust me I have a showgirl 350X also. I usually ride it about once a year on the pavement only. Last time it was almost 2 years, and I only took it to 1 show in that 2 years. I know, I suck. I'll get it out soon to a shownight .

While I did some work on the 350 today, got the gas tank all painted up and mounted put the exhaust system on and finally installed the speedometer only thing I'm missing is the speedometer cable I just need to fine out the length so hopefully someone can help me there. Also I need the air tube that runs from the carburetor to the air box so if anybody has one that's in good condition please give me a PM. Well that's about it tell me what you think
