What the best oil, and ratio to run in a 96 rm250. I heard people run 50:1 but manufacture says to run 32:1. Looked into amsoil and the only oil they have is 50:1 and 100:1. What do you guys run?

I was using Hondaline Gn2 non synthetic oils for a long time but I came across a sweet deal of Yamalube semi synthetic at less then half cost, so I bought a case and a half of it

Ratio is determined much more by the oil, rather than by the machine you are using it in. A manufacturers recommended ratio is based upon using the manufacturers recommended oil which will most likey have their name on it. Most decent MFG oils such as Yamalube or Hondaline stuff are normally run at about 32:1. The aftermarket synthetics such as my BelRay MC1, Amsoil, Klotz, Spectro and a whole host of others are designed to run at 50:1 without a loss in lubrication. My 86 TRX250R says on the tank to run it at 20:1 which is an indication of the performance of Honda's 2 stroke oils at that time compared to today's oils. Whatever you choose to run, stick with it and tune your carburetion for it. Changing your oil and mixture can greatly affect carburetion.

I think that is good input to this thread. I've been thinking of going to a 40:1 ratio. Now why would NOS_350X put up a reply to it like that. I was thinking NOS_350X would be a good modarator for this forum, but it sound's like he is a a-hole. Why put up a reply like that to a member with two post's?
Thank-you Tim sr. for the good input. It is a little scary to change oil mixture ratio's. I've alway's run 32:1 and thinking of going to 40:1.............................................. .................................................. ... 8)
