Okay, here's some pics of my 1985 Honda 250R FLAT TRACKER.

I've more or less just finished it, just got the number to mount on the # plate and a couple of decals to fit, as the weather was okay i thought i'd take a couple of pics.:D

This is a complete frame up restoration/build:D ,,,,including the engine.

I have based this bike on the 'PRIVATEER' version,,:Bounce ,,,there's also a few pics of my 86 FLAT TRACKER:D , and also my 1985 250R 'HONDALINE SPECIAL'.:D :D

Many thanks to 200x basket, RoscoW, skippy, x.system,,,and other 3WW members for suppling me with parts and info for this build.

Thanks for viewing.

J/K, you know that! I have to say...that is a very nice group of Rs. Actually, some of the BEST machines I have ever seen. You do outstanding work. As for the comments about gettin them dirty? Are you smokin crack dude? Machines like this should NOT be dirty and abused. It would be NO fun taking anyone of them out and thrashin on them. With sooo much TIME and money invested into these restos...it would be a shame to get so much as a scuff, let alone MUD and such on them. Once that happens...the tears would flow. Keep them pristine, share the gorgeous photos of them and ride something else not so PERFECT. Just my 2 Euros. :)

hopefull that my pegs are done today. The friend building them was at the Syracuse Nationals all weekend. I am taking a ride over there today to check out progress. Its a slow build for sure but I want it perfect and I want it the why I want it. I dont want to settle for some abused parts. I will have some picks within the next couple of weeks here. 2 passports, leaving in moments notice, mathmatics, I got all those in the bag. Dont know to much about oil rigs though. Maybe I will stick to insurance....Money is not bad here either...lol

Ye, oil rigs are crap, your better of at home with the family every night....:).

Okay, are you replacing the springs/pins/washers & split pin on your pegs to new
ones?, reason am asking is i need 2 sets of everything for my brothers 86 250R.

I can't get new parts from honda, well not for the 85/86 atc, am wonder if you have tried 86 trx 250r:wondering.

Am waiting on new swingarm bearings to be delivered then i can mount the swinger. Mounted the sprocket onto the axel today, and tried to get some stainless cap screws for the hubs - no joy, so i'll have to try again tomorrow.

Looked out the front end, washed the fork gators, now i have to get hold of a complete 86 rear brake assembly, well 2 actualy.

Does'nt cost me anything dude, but i give the guy $10.00, because he's doing me
a favour, you could send the bolts,T washers, nuts, front axel, rear suspension linkage ect, and i will get them re platted for ya.:D

How do you prep the bolts for plating? Do you sand blast them or run them through a tumbler or anything? I haven't started looking for a platter around me yet but this winter I will start my first full restoration so I am looking for info.

I have a bench grinder one of the stone wheels has been replaced with a rotary wire brush. i just clean them up sort of to a dull polish finish the shiner the better.

Then the guy at the platters dips them in acid then re zinc plates them to silver or gold whatever the original colour is from factory.:)

I have had parts bead blasted then put to the platter, the finish was dull and crap, you really need to polish the parts for the best finish.

Hi,

I use NOS 85 250R swingarm sliders (Green) - you will find them for sale on ebay.

You will need to drill and tap a hole for a fixture, and you will also have to cut a little piece of the slider just to make it fit nicely.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Took a lot of searching on this forum and ebay - they are made by Maier - very rare.

I had to mod them both slightly on my 86 HRC Rep also.
