Suzuki lt4wd 250 hard start issues when cold

I have a 1987 Suzuji Lt4wd 250 quad.. The starter locked so I have to pull start it until the new starter arrives.. It pretty hard starting.. I have to pull start it 15-20 times before it will start.. sometimes i have to put a little gas in the carb..
Engine is fully rebuilt.. but carb is not..

Is my next step to clean the carb or just adjust it. Once the bike starts it will start everytime on the first pull... once it cools down overnight I have to repeat the process.

Any suggestions on how to fix or correct this.. I would prefer not to wear out a brand new starter from this.

id check the carb first, but your valves could be a hair tight.

Intake valve was tight.. exhuast valve was loose.. got them adjusted.. cleaned carb out and reset to factory setting... Now its starts on one pull.. Thanks

There is a small tickingnoise coming from thepull starter area,, may be a small exhuast leak but other then that it runs perfect.
