I have a 2002 honda rancher es that just wont shift, electric shift or manual. It seems to be stuck in the middle of 4 gear and 5 gear and so it free wheels. if anyone has advice, please let me know

you cant shift it with the manual shift thingy or a wrench on the shift shaft?

When my 2006 Rancher ES screwed up and got stuck in fifth gear. I thought it was the angle sensor. You could roll it backwards but not forward. It ended up being a stripped out bolt that keeps the shift drum in place.

the angle sensor can be an assue but it free rolls because the motor isnt runnign to get the clutches to engage. but also could be soemthgin as simple as a piec eof dirt or soemthign holdign the shiftdrum or sensor opened so you cant change it manualy caus ethe actuator thingy is holdign it in the upshift or downshift mode

On one occasion i seen the bolts that hold the sift mechanism in the front of the engine back off. All i did was tighten the bolts back up and everything was good again. Have to pull the front cover off which is quite a pain but if you can get your machine up eye level when you are sitting down then its not to hard to get too
