Okay well Ive had flowmasters before on my 86 350, I thought they too high pitched and not quite loud enough. Havnt really had any experiences with magnaflows or anything along those lines. Im just curious as to what brand would give you the nice deep tone of lets say a corvette, but with out the corvette :naughty: And this would be on a 5.3 vortech.

You know flowmaster makes different series mufflers right? An H-pipe makes a huge difference in performance and sound also. If you have the cash Borla sounds great!

borla is a great exhaust. I can say my magnatlow changes the sound of my 1.5l to a cross between a stock chevy and a high revving pasta rocket. It starts off very low and deep and progresses up to a whine at high rpms, over 5000. I'm running a four inch turn down off of a 2 chamber design. Sounds nothing like a river.

I agree. I hade Cherry bombs on two different 302's, and they simple sounded awesome.

If you are on a tight budget Dynomax makes pretty good mufflers.

X2. Loud equal cherry bomb. For 50$ you`ll have the sound you always wanted.

Personally, I don't seem to sound very good to me. Just sounds like noise for the most part from what Ive heard on other vehicles. Like my father always said, it sure sounds loud but that doesn't mean powerful lol. A lot of people say that magnaflows are quiet compared to other brands? I'm really unsure of what to look into right now, I know its not possible to make it sound like a corvette or anything along those lines but if you catch my drift I think you may get my idea.

I agree, I have a set of Thorley headers and Dynomax Mufflers and they sound good.

I got a 5.3 with a Flowmaster....single in dual outlet, sounds great. Wish I had something that would record sound good...I'd let you hear it. I dunno what series mine has, but it has a nice semi-quiet but deep idle, it's loudest about 1800-2300 RPM's with a load, and above 3800 or so it just screams....nicest part though is at cruise it's not that loud for long trips. Good luck on your choice...

never ran mufflers on my 5.3. cut off where stock muffler is and weld a y pipe on so you got duels out the corners. i would do it the exact same all over again.

Does it still sound crisp just straight like that? Is there alot of back garbal and crap when you let of or rap on it?

Sounded great, very crisp and deep. I also had gibson headers though. If you geared down you would get crackle but if you just let out of it you wouldnt. When you got it up real high in the rpms it would turn into Dr. Jeckyl and just scream.
