between moving and getting engaged i have not had time to mess with the T3. it has all new plastic, new engine, dura blue axle, cal fab swinger, custom pipe, and many other goodies. i just have not had time to have the frame blasted and powder coated. my 250r is back and faster then last time  you never know when some loud mouth on a atv will need to get squashed :-D

I thought if enough want to go we would get a place or two for a trailer. That would give us electricity and probably be a little quiter. If you are going send me an email so I can get a count. So, what about it Basket, you and Keri planning to go?

07-05-2003, 01:40 AM

I live in kerrville, Texas but I'm from Lafayette, LA. I just bought a 200es yesterday and I know it's not the best for dunes, but I used to ride at forest hill right up the road from the dunes and there was plenty of wooded trail riding. Can I find the same at the dunes? What I'm saying is--if I go, will I just watch everybody rip around or can I ride trails?

200x Basket
07-05-2003, 10:30 PM
no real trails that i saw :? just a few around the edges.

i wont be able to make it, i want to real bad but work and life is messing it up

The last time we went up there my wife had a 200s and it did just fine. In fact, she never got stuck. I did. I would like to do some trail riding. if come maybe you could show me where we can do some near there.

Basket,
Kathy was hoping you and Kerri would make it. If things change we will be there. Tell Kerri hi for us.

yeah, Camp Claiborne is about a 5 min. drive from there. Trails for days--it's an old military base. I haven't been in a while and I hope it's still open.

I have had a few people from 3wheeler.org reply. Also I know RCmaninac, myself and my wife are going. I also got a email from Someone else but not sure of thier screename. Does JAT250 sound familiar?

Anyway, by next week let let me know who is going and if you plan on camping. We can get those hookup campsites for $15 a night. We can get one or two depending how many go and camp and just split the cost.

You gonna to make it Yater?

I have to go to a wedding in Lafayette on the 19th and I'm not happy about it. BUT-- If I can get the parts I need (front fork), then I'll haul the big red down there and slip away right after the wedding. I'd love to--I'm waiting on a few calls on the fork right now so I should know in the next day or two. If anyone has a front fork for an 84 200es or 200m or maybe a 250sx then we could speed things up.

Hey Yater,

Try Northend cycles at 409-898-7764. They are right down the road from me. They had one out front the other day when I drove bad. looked to be in fair condition. If they Have one i will go get it for you and ship it or just wait till the ride and we can can get it on there. Northend has tons of part ATV's.

Thanks alot, I just called that number and the girl on the phone said she was filling in and didn't know much. The yard guy will be back tomorrow and will know more. She did say that I would have to pull it myself though. If they do have it, I'd be more than happy to pay someone for their time to get it and shipping or maybe just pick it up on the way. I'm trying to figure out a way to make the ride. Just got the bike the other day and can't vouch for its reliability yet but I'm working on it now. It runs fine, just needs some fine tuning and probably a new front tire. But thanks so much and I'll hear from the guy tomorrow. Yater

Sounds good, she'll be glad not to be the only woman. She already got a sitter for the rugrat 2 days ago, not sure who wants to go the most. Any way we'll probably be there Sat morning if you like I can pm you my cell# so it'lll be easy to hook up. By the way is this open land no helmet required? Get back at you later, Dan.

Are you planning on camping (tent,RV) if so when are you gonna get there? I wouldn't mind roughing it Fri night and kicking back a few alcoholic beverages (cold one that is). I've been working my @#$ off the last 10 days, I might just go ahead and take the rest of the week off.

Stouttrout
07-15-2003, 11:35 AM
I am going to camp. I have a tent. I should get there around 8 on friday and will go ride for a little while then come back and set up camp and hit some beers.

Stouttrout
07-15-2003, 03:50 PM
Okay,

Let's get an accurate count.

If you plan on going, Send me an email at Bodanno@aol.com

Let me know that you are going to be there, when you are arriving, how many are coming with you and what everyone is bringing. Also, let me know if you plan on camping there or not. I think that me and Rcmaniac are going to get an RV spot so we will have electricity. If more are camping and want one we can reserve two together and split the cost. Anyway, let me know and I will post it all back up here.

I might be able to make it on the 15th&16th, I've been putting in 12-15hrs each trip. Gotta see what the wifes schedule will be like, right now its tight. If anything else I'll make a one day ride of it. By the way I still can't post on 3wheeler.org. I might have to start with a new user id.

I'm going this time. I'll probably stay in Lafayette and maybe camp a night. If anyone knows someone selling a 200x, please let me know. I took the trikes to the river last weekend (lots of sand) and now I need a 200x with some paddles. I also like the 350 but most cost too much. You going stoutrout?

LaDano
08-06-2003, 05:26 PM
still trying to post, I just e-mailed 250sx with the problem so hopefully. I logged out yesterday and tried to reregister but, I still have the same address. Know I can't even watch what ya'll are saying. That thing is starting to be a real pain. Anyway Its a '84 that is preaty much untouched. He had it in the shop last year for either the cdi or coil, hes not very mechanically inclined. He told me hes putting in new front bearings before it goes, and it needs a new front tire (slick). He put new 25 11 9 raw hides on around Sep '02. I've seen it go were his brothers 300 rancher 4x4 couldn't go, that kinda pissed him off. Anyway I told the wife last night that if she couldn't make the trip I will, just gotta see how I'm working at the time for which day I'm coming. Later Dan

yeah my wife is not going. She said it will be too hot. I know one thing for sure, I am bringing a fishing pole. I just gotta try that lake out. There has got to be some good fish in it. I may even bring my Kayaks.

Dan

LaDano

Sounds just like Roxanne (its to hot). Bring some blue&white jigs I garentee the sac-a-lait will tear them up. That pond is set-up just like the one on our lease a few miles down the road. How do I get permission to post on 3whler.org, that is what is holding me up I think. Dan

Stouttrout
08-06-2003, 06:33 PM
you should have permision if you are registered. 250sx above is the Webmaster of the site. Did you email him? He should be able to hook you up real quick. His email is webmaster@3wheeler.org

would I be able to have fun out there on a big red? I've been to forest hill (camp claiborne) lots of times but never the dunes for some reason.

Stouttrout
08-06-2003, 09:21 PM
I would think so. Last time out LaDano had a 200s and a big red. The first time I went we had a 200s out there. I always have fun :D

yater
08-06-2003, 09:37 PM
I'm goin' then. Picking up a new trailer this week so I can bring both just for fun.

250SX
08-06-2003, 10:23 PM
You can have fun on anything out there. Run all your vent hoses up through to the steering head & make sure your intake system is tight then you can always chug down the creek if you get too hot. :D
LaDano, check your email. There is an activation code sent out when you register that you have to respond to. After that it will work fine.

Oh yeah, those of you like me who are bring more than one trike might want to bring some chain to secure them. I seriously doubt there will be any problems but it's just something everyone should have anyway. 8)

LaDano
08-06-2003, 11:37 PM
Come to find out there was a final step in registration, just did it. Gotta go run trains now I'll talk back tomorrow. Later Dan

Stouttrout

Yeah pretty much. I have some caution tape. You know, the stuff like you see at crime scenes. We will put it on or flags and Wrap it around the campsite.........

Have you been to the website? It is Thedunesinc.com. We usually all bring our own drinks and stuff. We a grill but if you have some extra charcoal or anything that would be good. We usually just bring some links and stuff for dinners and lunch.

you can see a pic of it at TheDunesInc.com. As for riding all night, you can ride as long as you want 24 hrs.

Well, I'm leavin' in the morning to head that way. I'll probably stay somewhere tomorrow night (Houston or Lafayette) and head to the dunes on friday. If I get there first, what area do I need to be in?

Stouttrout
08-13-2003, 10:58 PM
just go to the main camping area and grab a high spot by the creek.

250SX
08-13-2003, 11:18 PM
once you pull through the gate you'll see on the left are the camper spots. on the right is a stand of trees where people will be camping. Just go up in there and go all the way to the right over where the creek is. see you there!

I'm the only moron? 500 miles I drove--500 miles! Anyway, I'm in Lafayette visiting my parents. I went to the dunes this morning and got the wonderful news! So I went to camp claiborne (right up the road--Barney was sending everyone there and it's where I grew up riding--very cool for trails.) So I rode there ALL day. I did a 29 mile loop on my 110! That thing always amazes me. I'm beat. Sorry I didn't get to meet anyone out there--I was hoping someone would go and get sent to camp claiborne so I kept an eye out for three wheelers but NOOOOO. only me--Ya'll really need to check that place out if you haven't been-- it's got 4-30 mile loops and lots of other trails. Anyone?
