My dad was shop manager for a major radial engine overhaul facility here in oklahoma back in the 70's and early 80's. He said in their warehouse there was around 40 of these merlins new in the crate, that was surplus from WW2. They were selling them for $300 each to the drilling companies and they were putting them on their frac trucks two at a time. Unbelieveable how much the price has changed in 20yrs as that is a $80,000 - $100,000 engine now.
