I have been super busy the last month. I take almost 3 months off every year to run a trapline. The first couple weeks of Nov, I trap muskrats. Then I move to mink and coon. I took 1500 muskrats. I am now running a fairly good size mink and coon line. Heres yesterdays catch. I am leaving at 4 to start checking. I will post some more pics later today.

How much do you get for each? Do you sell them as is?

Are pelts worth anything up there? Most are less than a dollar here, last I checked.

Great looking catches!

I sell everything whole everyday. Muskrats are averaging $1.50. Mink are $10.00 for males and $4.00 for females. The coon are averaging around $10.00. There is $241.00 on the table in the first pic. I will post some pics of todays catch later.

what do you do for a living that lets you take 3 months off at a time to hunt and trap? I could go for that career whatever it is.

That's great you making some cash doing it. I would enjoy it, I know that. "Fresh air, making some bucks. F'ing A!" LOL couldn't resist.

How many traps you running? Farm land and bottoms?

So it's not pelts you sell, it's the whole animal? Hmm, that saves alot of time! Could you make more just selling the pelts?

I could get a little more if I skinned them, but I have no interest in that part of the fur handling. I just sell daily and not worry about the extra $$$. I pour concrete, so this is the slow time for us anyway. Im only running 85 traps for mink and coon. Sometimes I will have as many as 300 out. For muskrats, I ran 350 this year. I can sometimes double that amout of muskrat traps out. Here is todays catch. Alot slower today. The temp is pretty cold and keeps the coon from moving as much. I run the gravel roads and trap bridges and any waterways. No, I have not had the Tiger checking traps, yet....

there's something kinda creepy about that, lol I'm not sure why. Good cash, but eh, I don't kill something that isn't a pest unless I wanna eat it.

You know down here you'd make more selling that coon meat to the brothers.... Just have to leave the feet on.

If you ever come down to Cedar Rapids you should try a place called Marion Square Gardens. My dad owns the place.
