I talked to an old friend today named Andrew in Lafayette, LA. He said it sneauxed from 5:00-7:00 am there, and people were building mini-snowmen. He said the snow was gone by noon.

Incidentally: He's a pretty funny guy, real self confident (bordering on cocky), almost too smart for his own good. Remind you of anyone..?.. Goat??

There is still snow on roof tops and in yards and you just described 90% of Lafayette! We got about 3inches some places 5. Really a historic amount. The most has ever fallen in my 35 years. Beautiful.

I wasn't trying to point fingers, just funny how the few folks I know from LOU-siana bear a strong resemblance.
I've spent some time in Baton Rouge, Port Allen, and that area. I used to clean up the low limit poker tables on the riverboat (Argosy Casino).
Also, thought it was cool to drive across the Mississippi River on the way home from work.

I don't know about that but it was an experience crossing the atchafalaya river bridge with a couple inches of slush on it this morning. 4high and slow. Yeah theres surely some colorful personality down here huh. Wish I could have hit the snow on my trike.

I think its kinda fun to watch people drive in snow that have never done it before.

I have some good cajun stories to tell from those trips. Of course, they are best told around a late night TrikeFest campfire. <find a way to get there, 3WW people>

I'll post a good one in my Trikesylchina thread soon.

Where I live in Mass. we've gotten all rain from this system that's pretty much soaking the whole eastern seaboard, and you as well. If all this rain was snow, we'd be buried for sure. Better you than us I guess. At least you can see what we go through every damn year

Lol fine I'm cocky. I admit it. It's bred into me, and it attracts the women like flies to honey. Some horse flies eh Syko?

No limit tables are an easy way to make money, were I mean, they shut that down.

The snow was interesting, standing with a flashlight at 4am visibility was only six feet or so. Driving was hilarious. I just drove as though my rear wheels were already locked on a wet road, nice and easy. 55 on i10.

Some idiots decided 90 was preferable because they had big tires... Medians were kept full.

I saw one car driving with a snowman on the hood...

And I now know why god discourages snow down here, knee boards on the levee into ditches full of water isn't very bright when it's 35. I saw one or two people kneeboarding behind a quad, looked fun, but cold as the dickens.

I will say this, I was in Kentucky a few days ago, it was 19 or so with under 10% humidity, and I was walking around in a tshirt and jeans. Down here it's 35, 100% humidity, and it's motherfreaking cold no matter what you're wearing.

I have some pics of lazy live oaks covered in snow, not something you see every day.

Lets see those pics. anyone that has some of the louisiana sneaux. i got some of tiger stadium and mike in the snow. i guess ill add this little story related to this recent cold here. i shot a double on two woodies yesterday just befor dark. one landed at my feet and the other in the bayou just behind me. i got my bro in laws pirogue to try to get it since i didnt have my dog (named pirogue). the duck drifted away and as i paddled around looking for it in the dark, the pirogue sank. COLD ! i knew it leaked but obviously under estimated it. ruined my phone and didnt find the woodie.

cold? 35 is cold? damn i just spent the past three days cleaning up from an ice storm that has knocked over 250,000 people out of power. no power means no heat. ice was almost an inch thick. think of how heavy that would be if a tree is coated with an inch of ice, yup, friggin everything looked as if it was a war zone. three foot round trees snapped like tooth picks, telephone poles and wires snapped like toothpicks. roofs caved in, etc... oh yeah did i mention the temp got down to 9 degrees lastnight? talk about cold, and thats not with the wind chill, throw the wind chill factor in and we were basically below 0. throw on some well insulted clothes, the carhart body suit, face mask, gloves, throw on the helmet and off we go!!!! snow riding is the best, no matter what temp!!!

i fully realize that its cold up north. hence the amazement in our historic amount recently. also, when its 35 up in NY whats the humidity? just as the Cabrie (goat) noted we may not get that low but the air is incredibly damp so i guess what hes saying as many that i know that live here that are from the north, is that a humid 35 is much more uncomforta ble than a dry one. anyway, id love to see any pic of the louisiana that anyone may have taken as it really is amazing considering out usual winter mildness.

picture of the quad

It was exam week, that's why it's so hazy in the picture, they had so many people smoking in front of the library lighting your own cigarette is kind of redundant.

trust me buddy...yall are dry up there.

When I was in hazard kentucky, everyone was walking around in thick coats, jumpsuits and heavy weather gear, drinking coffee.

they were looking at me like I was a fool, standing there pumping my gas in a tshirt, drinking a bigass redbull.

got some wierd people up there (unfriendly), I'd ask the clerks how their morning was going, and it was like I shot their mother. I'm about the least friendly person down here, but up there, I was damned near politicking.

Et pirogue_dog, je sus pas un cabrie....je sus LE CABRIE! lol
