anyone got any tips on fixing the cracking swingarm problem on the 85/86 lt250r.
this will be the 2nd cracked one i have. i've never had a skid plate on it. i just bought a new one i was thinking have it welded then put on the skid plate it should be fine. the skid plate mounts before and after where they always crack.

ive seen people add a support, to the carrier. by bolting it to the bottom the swingarm and then welding it two where the carrier adjusts..

a bent piece of metal.

Buy a 1987-90 LT250R swingarm and carrier and bolt that on. You might need the shock linkage too but I am not sure. Other than that everything else you have will work on the new swingarm.

Here's a good LT thread to read:

that cracked one is a 85. 86's have a reinforcment in that area. i have an 86 lt250r, and it hasn't cracked there, but it seems to crack everywhere else!

heres a 85 swinger i fixed awhile ago. 1/4 inch plate welded and bent up and over the carrier mounts.

thats a nice patch job.

i always added a long plate to each side as well...maybe a foot long and wide enough to fit the sides
