i was thinking, is it possible to have a turbo on a trike?

i was watching this youtube video and this guy had nos on a 250r. i think it might of had a different motor in it. is that possible to have nos on a 2 stroke? that would be really bad for the engine i am guessing. lol

asked before, it is done to 2 stroke sleds, and they have huge power, but it has been shot down to many times for any one to think even about it...

it's not easy nor cheap. you can figure about $1000-$1100 to do the setup and that's if you make all your own pipes and parts.

yeah i was gonna say it was mymint87, havent heard from him in awhile. i think he is mostly over at .org.

i saw electric superchargers on ebay a couple years back for jeeps i think. they werent expensive either, but i didnt think it would do much of anything for a car motor. perhaps this could be utilized for a trike/quad?

it looks as though you could fit this to the back of your carb, may be something worthwhile. i cant put links in (im on my ps3), just go to ebay and search electric supercharger

There was a listing on ebay about 2 weeks ago for a 3 wheeler and turbo. But not put together.

The electric chargers were discussed a while ago here,. complete gimic! (looked like)

There didnt seem like there was any way to really improve induction with that hairdryer of a charger lmao. (was meant for atv's)

Yeah, the turbo 500 is Mymint87. I guess the important things would either to be have a small enough turbo for a trike engine that was large enough to really have enough exhaust to spin a turbo.

maybe a belt or chain driven supercharger would be more effective? you would need some good baseline hp to make up for the power needed to turn the charger though. i guess 200's need not apply?
i felt a little like Chistopher Columbus or Ben Franklin when i suggested the electric jobby, now i feel like Vanilla Ice (ripped off the Queen song Under Pressure)

Its possible, and itd fit and look great, the exhaust runs right by the intake. The hard part would be finding a turbo small enough. Im sure you could use a volvo turbo or somthing off a civic but that would be useless for trails, itd take all day to spool it and ud make very little boost. My 7.3L idi diesel has a turbo a little bigger than a cantaloupe, so im thinking a 0.25L engine should have a turbo no bigger than an apple if u plan it to spool correctly and make decent boost. Boost gauge would be critical, and finding a good boost range for the engine is also important. A low compression piston is also a great idea if u plan on leaving the turbo on it.

Yes. I read a writeup on a guy from Dirtwheels (something like 1990) Had a 100 HP turbo banshee. Was running a single 37mm carb.

Pretty cool machine!

I remember reading about a turbo charge company making a kit for a Raptor and 400EX. If I remember right, the kits ran around $4k. Not sure about a 2 stroke. I am sure it is possible if you are smart enough to design and tune it. I doubt you will find a bolt on kit.

NOS is possible. I have seen write ups in dirt wheels about NOS on Banshee's and I have seen some kits for sale on Ebay for numerous 4 strokes.

Running NOS and a turbo at the same time? Sounds cool, but you better build your motor to take that. Get ready for some $$$$ as well

Nitrous is common in the big drag bikes. Turbo's suck because on a bike you still get Turbo-lag. It all depends on what you want Nitrous and a turbo together isnt that common. Go with alky before you think of a turbo or nitrous.

I saw a turboed DS 650 at dumont one time, (got some pics of it somewhere) the engine was bone stock just a bolt on turbo. That thing was FAST compared to there pipes and carbed banshee.

I seem to remember a turbo banshee actually...140+ hp

electric turbos aren't a gimmick....I've seen one on an RSX a few years ago...one of the main problems with it is tuning....it'll force a lean condition

My buddy has a 350x that he pulled that we put a turbo on it made around 15lbs of boost on ower half ass red neck dino but the charger was to big . We couldn't get to to stay spolled up when we pulled it . I will try to post some pics of it it may take a while to find some pics . I don't know how you are going to put one on a riding bike cause the one we did put the chareger where the rear shock was .

Garrett made/makes a kit for the 400ex. It's pretty expensive, but I have found the turbos they use (the GT12) on craigslist before and I'm guessing you could buy one directly from Garrett or some other turbo vendor, like TEC. I've been kicking around the idea of putting one on my 600X, but the real issue I can't figure out is how to fuel it. I'm not sure how they are doing it with the Garrett kit. I'm not sure if you can draw thru this turbo or not, I'm assuming you can't. It would be nice to get my hands on the instruction manual for their kit...

If you go on you tube there are some crazy 2 stroke turbo snowmobiles. These kits are bolt on and there is also a bolt on kit for banshees on the internet.
