So post up the names of your local hillclimbs.. and some :pics: if you got them. We've got a few that the local yocals have named over the years.. I'll have to see if I can dig up some pics or vids

The two biggest ones around here off the top of my head are "The Black Biotch" and "The Peak"

.....I'm snowed in and bored....

Here's a pic of the back side of black biotch...

here.. we'll name this one "Brapp's Hill" FYI, that hil is history... they've been filling in that hole for the past few years now.

Unfortunatly, I lost alot of my pics when my puter crashed a while back... Here's the only pic I could find of "the Peak" This hill was much larger with only one path going up the steepest side back in the mid 80's.. it's wore down to near nothing these days.

Hey josh, a big portion of that coal hill was dug up when they were doing something with removing toxic waste barrels quite a few years ago.. :welcome:

I couldn't find the exact website.. but I remember reading about it and seeing pics a few years ago.

That coal hill place looks insane.
I love the footage from Huevos 7 of that place, were the guy thows himself down the hil.LOL

Here are some crappy pics of some hills in Wellsville.

The first one is Half hour Hill. That is a Dodge 1500 on fire in the middle of it.
The second Pic is the Top of half hour looking down, and out in the distance you can see the ther side of the valley called Chiken Hill.

The third pic is called Peach Tree Valley, and off thru the distance, i call those hills Crazy 8's

The 4th pic is Scooby Doo. There are abunch of stuffed scooby dolls hanging in the trees.

The 5th and 6th pics are of Pipeline, or some call it Sonofabitch,The 5th pic is a ATC 250R near the top end of the hill. Not many make it up this.I have seen quads end up like smashed popcans at the bottom of it.
Those ruts you see are big enough to set a Raptor in, even with the tops of the ruts.Somewhere there is a vidoe of a banshee climbing this one and making it and also a LT 250R.I saw a Z 400 fail miserably. The rails can sometimes make it and bigbore dirtbikes can make it too with a good rider.

Pine City, PA:
Steepside
Etzel Hill
The Super Bowl
The Highwall
Campbell Hill / Kerle Strips

Butler, PA:
Sawbelly
Funnel Hill
Monster Hill (unclimbable as far as I can tell)

ATCTim might have pictures of some of these, but the pictures never seem to show how big / steep they really are.

i dont have many pics but up here there are several climbs. just to name a few, " boots" creek side and road side, "the cushion", this is actually 3 hills that run together. it consists of Road Side, Creek Side, and Back Side road side. there is also a gravel pit in the same area with several climbs, The Bowl, The V, and some others not named. on the other end of town there are Little Egypt, State Line, and a bunch of pipe lines that arent named. if you big into hill climbing this is the place to visit.

Yeah there are some yard sale hills down there.

And If you roll, there are rocks the size of Tv sets for your machine to bounce off of all the way down. Some of those hills are 1500 feet in length or more from top to bottom.

Even if you dont roll or wreck, you still come back sometimes with a wadded up skid plate from the rocks. But I love it!

I'm definitely not in flat land, being surrounded by coal, iron ore, and sand mines/ gravel/strip pits. Problem is, most of the good ride areas with the big hills are shut down due to mining operations, or friggin hunting clubs:mad:

Don't get me wrong, I hunt....but the sheer number of great spots shut down by these clubs around here is sickening. It's gotten to the point where people slip in during the off season and take their chances getting caught just because there's hardly anywhere else to ride, without driving a couple hours and paying $$$$.

Some great pics in this thread, though:beer

No offense guys but these hills although steep and long, most look relatively easy to climb, and fun as hell.but the hill that sticks in my mind looks nothing like these, unfortunatly no pics, its called brick house mountain road, its deep in the forrest, and its about 1/3 a mile of steep dried up creek bed, with snaking turns and huge boulders gallore. Every time we would ride only a few out of our usually 6-8 riders would get to the top, those that did make it usually had to turn around and come back down anyway for those that coudnt. Oh, by the way we were usually on dirtbikes too. Very few people have succesfully navigated this hill on an atv!! I have seen it done though. Its one of those hills were your going good and then all of a sudden your pointing back down the hill, if you know what I mean.

Next time you come up riding with me I'll show you brokeback mountian, hillbilly! :welcome:

Honestly, I quite climbing years ago. (yeah Ima pussy!) too many broken bones and bikes for my liking. and now, unlike when I was younger,, I gotta pay for my own repairs. :D

What makes climbing coal hills hard is it real loose, and you loose alot of moment towards the top

i have lots of pics from riding coal piles and they dont look like their very steep until you stand at the bottom and look up,and like chris had said the coal is very loose thats why we use paddle tires.

You know it's a Bad Arse hill climb when you look form the top down. The trees are scared with plastic chunks & color marks where chunks of bark are missing scattered about is a grave yard of broken body peices:lol: When you look from the bottom all the bark on the trees are perfect:lol:
